Trapped in a gruesome world where paper is the source of revenue and happiness, we have redesigned any “exchange” to be nothing close to a smile from a stranger. Our whispers in prayer have become those of being blessed with wealth and materials to ensure longevity and to watch over our bank accounts instead of our friends. In collaboration with famed artist and Kidrobot Creative Director, Frank Kozik, the “Let Us Prey” Art Figure captures modern-day greed pressed between two hopeful hands that used to pray for more than money.

Standing as a 10” representation of how pop culture devotes time to mirror our current economy and social standings, the “Let Us Prey” Vinyl Art Figure by Frank Kozik makes the perfect piece to remind ourselves of the balance between our social networked personalities and our true goals for self-actualization. After sold-out releases of three previous editions, this new Black Matte edition won't last long.

SHADOWMAN #1 Promo Art & Preorder Cover by Tony Moore

October 28th, 2020 – Terror will be unleashed this April in SHADOWMAN #1.
New York Times bestselling writer CULLEN BUNN (Venom) and acclaimed artist JON DAVIS-HUNT (Clean Room) pull you into a world of horror and supernatural suspense as Jack Boniface, aka SHADOWMAN, protects humanity from the nightmares that lurk within the dimension known as the Deadside... but the barrier between Earth and the horrifying realm is tearing and gateways are popping up all around the globe. The forces of darkness are hungry for life, and only Shadowman stands in their way.

"I'm excited for people to read our new SHADOWMAN run for so many reasons," said Cullen. "This is an approach to Shadowman that I don't think readers have seen before. He's more powerful now, embarking on globe-hopping adventures, and encountering threats that will have a long-lasting impact on the Valiant Universe. And these stories, while full of superheroic action, are tales of horror. Jon and Jordie are bringing these stories to life in a way that will make this book read and look unlike any other comic on the shelves. It really is shaping up into something special."

Jon's also eager to have fans dive into the debut issue. "I cannot wait for SHADOWMAN to finally hit stores and for fans to be able to taste the dark slice of horror that Cullen and I have cooked up." The artist added, "I think Cullen has done a brilliant job in redefining Shadowman's role and putting him onto a more global stage, which in turn, has allowed us to explore a multitude of horror concepts and ideas. Although the delay was not what we originally intended, it has allowed us to add that additional polish to the book, which I think has been a real benefit - particularly for me on the art front. If you like action horror, with a real super-heroic twist, then I think SHADOWMAN is a book you have to check out."

Check out the first four pages of SHADOWMAN #1, below.

OLIVER TREE ANNOUNCES FIRST GRAPHIC NOVEL- OLIVER TREE VS. LITTLE RICKY: ALIEN BOYS!

Alt-Pop’s Provocateur and Fashion Icon In-The-Making Works on His Comic Book Debut in Retirement w/ New York Times Best-Selling Graphic Novelist Orpheus Collar

NEW YORK, NY—Z2 Comics reveal the first of their 2021 spring lineup today, with what is certain to be one of the most talked about comic book debuts since Stan Lee christened the Silver Age, with the arrival of Oliver Tree’s first graphic novel Oliver Tree Vs. Little Ricky: Alien Boys! Following on a string of select track appearances following the influential artist’s untimely retirement from music, comes his latest creative venture in the world of comics!

Oliver Tree says “I’ve been writing this manifesto for the last 15 years, and after hundreds of different versions, I’ve finally crafted the greatest story ever told. This is my magnum opus, based off real events from my travels around the world. Let this book serve as a bible for my fellow artists in their darkest hour…”

“When I retired from comics in 2019, I didn't think there was anything that could draw me back”, says co-author Orpheus Collar. “But as I was drawn into Oliver and Ricky's orbit, I connected with their struggles navigating art and commerce. ALIEN BOYS is a prescient and exciting tale, which, like the thumping bassline of Oliver & Ricky's musical oeuvre, will resonate with people of all beats of life. For those interested in out-of-this-world scooter tricks, punching and kicking, there's plenty of that too.”

Little Ricky ZR3 comments “I do not endorse this book in any way. I haven’t received any financial compensation for my contributions to the novel. Oliver did not allow me to be credited as a writer, which is strange because it’s based off my life as well. Also I would like to say I do not believe this story to be entirely accurate. He left out extremely important details to save face from making himself look bad.”

“Oliver has descended upon comics like the Son of Odin to wield his scooter like Thor swinging Mjölnir,” says Z2 publisher Josh Frankel. “This book has everything his fans would want out of his first comic book, and everything comics fans could need for full indoctrination into Oliver Tree fandom. With Orpheus handling the art, I would argue that the world of Oliver Tree and Lil Ricky has never been more vivid and more hilarious.”

ALIEN BOYS tells Oliver Tree’s life story, picking up as he is thrown into the meat grinder of the music industry to promote his debut retirement album "Ugly is Beautiful". Denied his chosen herbal medicine to overcome the aches and pains brought on by a deadly life in the fast lane, Oliver threatens to retire, prompting his label to find an out-of-this world replacement in Little Ricky, an alien with a sick mix tape….In a world too small for the both of them, Oliver and Ricky are forced to either become fast friends or throw down in a turbo-charged battle that threatens to destroy them both.

Oliver Tree Vs. Little Ricky: Alien Boys will be released on April 13, 2021 and is available for preorder now through the Z2 website in both a standard edition graphic novel, as well as various deluxe formats including exclusive picture disc vinyl variants of Oliver’s final album Ugly is Beautiful, and an Oliver Tree vs Little Ricky statue! About Oliver Tree:
Dubbed by Billboard as “Alt-pop's merry prankster,” Oliver Tree's debut album ‘Ugly is Beautiful’ has earned raves from HYPEBEAST (“...somewhere between a meme and creative polymath”) Interview (“With Ugly is Beautiful...the Gen-Z jester has declared his arrival onto the internet’s airwaves”) and more. ‘Ugly Is Beautiful’ debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums Chart and Alternative Albums Chart, and in the Top 15 on the Billboard 200. As if that wasn’t enough, he celebrated the release of 'Ugly Is Beautiful' by breaking the Guinness World Record for building (and crashing) the world's largest scooter and is on his way to becoming a fashion icon. On ‘Ugly is Beautiful,’ Oliver Tree takes his millions of followers on an unpredictable roller coaster ride through a cracked world full of comic disaster. ‘Ugly is Beautiful’ then is the product of all of Oliver’s otherworldly experiences distilled into fourteen songs - the promise of his EPs, ‘Alien Boy’ and ‘Do You Feel Me?’ fulfilled. As Rolling Stone stated, Oliver Tree is outlandish, and it’s working.”

JOHN STANISCI AND EMMA KUBERT PREMIER NEW VARIANTS FOR FOUNDLINGS ALONG WITH FULL LETTERED PREVIEW

Picture
The Story Inspired by Personal Journey and A Search for Family Approaches Goal With A New Variant Available in Two Versions, Including A Bleeding Cool Exclusive!
Picture
PORTLAND, OR–New York-based writer and artist John Stanisci (Batman Beyond) and buzzworthy artist Emma Kubert (Inkblot, Image Comics) have teamed together to create Foundlings, a brand new dystopian young adult comic book series in the vein of Stranger Things and The Goonies, tackling issues of abandonment among a diverse cast of children. The series follows a group of children cast aside by their families and society…until they were possibly the only ones capable of saving it. Funding exclusively on Kickstarter, and if successful, planned for a full graphic novel, Foundlings is a timely story tackling themes of global politics, ableism and more in a story that will keep readers on immersed for 28 pages.

Writer John Stanisci says “We are so excited! It’s barely two weeks into the campaign and we are already at the 70% mark! I want to thank everyone who has already supported us! We still have three weeks to go so we can’t wait for more people to discover Foundlings!”

Years in the future, a virus has been weaponized by a Russian government hell-bent on destroying America from within. This deadly new strain has been perfected to kill within 24 hours of contact, and only small groups of children carry an immunity to the effects. They are the Foundlings; a diverse group of children under the age of 16, who alone carry the hope for a possible cure, and a solution to extinction.

Artist and Co-creator Emma Kubert echoes “Thank you all so much for the support! We are almost to our goal, and we are so excited for you all to read our sci-fi adventure. Everyone can relate to Foundlings, and we are ready for you all to dive into the world!”

Foundlings centers around one very special group of kids, all who still dream of the families that long ago abandoned them, and instead find family in each other in order to survive and find a way to save the Earth from destruction. The story is inspired by The Foundlings Hospital in New York City, which is a real-life home to children, many of whom are challenged with physical and emotional issues. The story is rich with themes of empowerment and inspiration for teenagers and adults alike, in a fun adventure story that recalls some of the most beloved films and television series.

Funding exclusively through this Kickstarter campaign is a self-contained comic book story, published in a 28 page, full-color comic format, written by John Stanisci, and drawn by Emma Kubert, with three covers available. For more information on perks offered, visit the campaign page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/punkhouse/foundlings-a-new-comic-from-john-stanisci-and-emma-kubert

Discover a Brand New Graphic Novel from the Acclaimed Cartoonist Katja Klengel in March 2021

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 26, 2020) – BOOM! Studios today announced a  new original graphic novel GIRLSPLAINING: A (Sorta) MEMOIR, by cartoonist Katja Klengel, tackling the subjects that have shaped her life: from body shaming to the exploration of her sexuality, and from the representation of women in the media to the social pressure on women who don’t have children, available in March 2021.

Why do we fear the word “vulva” so much? Do we really have to be ashamed of our body hair? Why do gender roles in children’s toys seem to be stuck in the ‘50s? With a sense of humor, an open heart, and unsparing candor, Klengel looks back on her childhood through the lens of the popular culture that shaped her identity and examines what being a woman today means to her (and really, a whole lot of us!).

Katja Klengel is an award-winning German comic artist and screenwriter living and working in Berlin. Her first graphic memoir Blattonisch was published in 2012 at Schwarzer Turm. That same year she worked on a serialized graphic novel for German newspaper F.A.Z., called Als ich so alt war (When I Was Your Age). In 2018, Klengel drew the feminist comic column Girlsplaining for online magazine Broadly.

“When I was a teenager I couldn't imagine that there were other girls and women who had the same problems and experienced the same things I did. So, for me, GIRLSPLAINING is the book I would have liked to have when I was younger to help me realize I'm not alone in this,” said Klengel. “I'm happy and excited that I can reach out to many more teenagers and grown-ups in the U.S. and elsewhere, and maybe it's a bit comforting to them.”

GIRLSPLAINING: A (Sorta) MEMOIR is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ award-winning Archaia imprint, home to inspiring graphic novels such as Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, Ryan North, and Albert Monteys; The Sacrifice of Darkness by Roxane Gay, Tracy Lynne Oliver, and Rebecca Kirby; Big Black: Stand at Attica by Frank “Big Black” Smith, Jared Reinmuth, and Ameziane, We Served the People by Emei Burell, The Realist by Asaf Hanuka, Girl on Film by Cecil Castellucci and Vicky Leta, Melissa Duffy, V. Gagnon & Jon Berg, New World by David Jesus Vignolli, About Betty’s Boob by Vero Cazot and Julie Rocheleau, and Waves by Ingrid Chabbert and Carole Maurel.

“The first time I saw Katja’s openly honest depictions of different experiences she’d had to deal with, just as a woman living her everyday life, I immediately recognized myself in her stories,” said Sierra Hahn, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Katja illustrates, with great humor and warmth, some of the everyday joys, issues, and challenges that a lot of women could relate to.”

Print copies of GIRLSPLAINING: A (Sorta) MEMOIR, for Mature Readers, will be available for sale in March 2021 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one), bookstores or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Madefire.

Knights of the Golden Sun & Honor and Curse Are Back for a Second Arc!

This winter, cozy up with some Mad Cave favorites!

Oct. 23, 2020, (EUGENE, OR) — Two first wave titles that put Mad Cave Studios on the comics map are making an exciting return! It was an easy decision for writer Mark London (Battlecats) to bring the second arc of Knights of the Golden Sun—now blending even more history and fantasy with biblical elements, all perfectly captured in the intricate and detailed art by Nicolas Salamanca with an exclusive variant by Adam Gorham—as well as the return of Genshi, the Tengu, Akemi, and the rest of the Iga back shinobi thriller, Honor and Curse, featuring art by Mauricio Villarreal (Wolvenheart).

Knights of the Golden Sun #8 (Dec. 2, 2020)
(W) Mark London (A/C) Mauricio Villarreal (L) Justin Birch

The Archangels are back! With Metatron on the run, and Lucifer nowhere to be found, the Archangels must scour the Earth for the pieces of God’s Armor in order to prevent them from bringing destruction upon the world the likes of which have only been hinted at through the annals of history!

“To be able to continue working on Knights of the Golden Sun is exhilarating,” said Mark London. “Not only because I can continue working on a story that we have set out to do from the beginning, but because I'm in love with these characters and I truly enjoy working with Mauricio. It’s  a story about the archangels and their struggles as a family. It’s about facing doomsday scenarios that are bigger than anything the world has ever seen. It’s going to be a wild ride... just like everything Mad Cave does.”

“I've always loved being a part of this project because I love epic stories that take place in amazing worlds, and that is exactly what Knights of the Golden Sun is,” said Mauricio Villarreal. “In volume two, we are going to explore a much larger world filled with all sorts of fantastical creatures as well as even more historical figures than the last volume.”

Honor and Curse #7 (Jan. 6, 2021)
(W) Mark London (A) Nicolas Salamanca (C) Tekino (L) Miguel Zapata
Left reeling after the murder of Lord Haruki, Genshi makes his way to the Jade Caverns per Nishiro’s instructions. Meanwhile, Akemi took control of the Iga and is training like never before to defend her clan from potential threats… like the rival Koga clan who are looking to seize the opportunity presented by Lord Haruki’s death.

“When I first came up with the idea for Honor and Curse, it was supposed to be a straightforward ninja tale with some historical elements and tons of action,” said Mark London. “However, once I started diving into the research, I became fascinated by all of the mythology surrounding the era and the story morphed into what it is today; a story about a talented ninja possessed by an evil mountain spirit known as a Tengu. With the fantastic art that Nicolas and Tekino bring to the table, I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store for Genshi, Akemi, and the rest of the Iga clan.”

“Honor and Curse is a comic that I have a lot of affection for, not only because of the fact that it is set in feudal Japan, but it has allowed me to grow as an artist,” said Nicolas Salamanca. “I definitely consider it an honor and not a curse to continue working with Mark and Tekino on this incredible story.”

“[Dead End Kids] has easily become one of the best comic book series that I have read in 2019. The manner in which it deals with themes of death, loss of innocence, and friendship was incredibly well done. Gogol created a comic that I was able to dive in and walk out feeling amazed.”

“Gogol and Cviticanin have something special on their hands...”

“...an emotional reminder of the scars and trauma that shape us and make us human.” - Monkeys Fighting Robots

“Gogol has created a very emotional, very surreal tale of life and the twisting paths we all take.” - Pastrami Nation

“At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to write more Dead End Kids, but with the success of the first book, I started to wonder if there was more to say,” said Frank Gogol. “I decided to go back to the core concept of the original series -- childhood trauma and how it affects us as we get older -- and I kept coming back to this idea of September 11th.”

Frank continued, “I grew up in New Jersey, across the Raritan Bay from lower Manhattan, and on clearer days I could see the World Trade Center. I remember standing on our beachfront on 9/11, watching the smoke billow up from the wreckage. I remember looking around and seeing everyone there with me, the horror and pain in their faces. It’s something I’ve literally thought about every day since. At the end of the day, my biggest priority is to tell stories that are about something that people can connect with. With
Dead End Kids: The Suburban Job -- I think we’ve created something that will connect with so many people. These kids are so real and what they’re going through is so raw. I can’t wait for people to be able to read it.”

Dead End Kids: The Suburban Job #1 is slated for release January 27, 2021 and is available for preorder in November. Cover A by Criss Madd (No Heroine). Cover B (1:5 incentive connecting cover) by Ryan Kincaid (Dark Knights: Death Metal). Cover C (1:10 incentive cover) by Ben Templesmith (Fell).
