HOUSTON, TX -- Red 5 Comics takes a ride through history in Verge this August.

New York City of the near future is the world's greatest melting pot where European expats live next to Latinos who live next to African-Americans who live next to émigré's from around the world who live next to vikings and cavemen and Roman citizens.  These refugees from the worst disasters in human history have been rescued and given a new home, and now someone has to police them and keep all the different cultures from fighting one another.  That's the job of Detective Connie Liu and she does it well.  When a group of samurai are found murdered most the police chalk it up to regular clan fighting, but Connie suspects someone has is targeting the refugees. Finding out who and why will mean finding the answer to the question that has plagued the world since the time refugees appeared ... what is the Verge?

"Verge is a story that combines two genres I love: sci fi and history. There's so many amazing characters and civilizations in the past, but each of them are a result of their own unique philosophies and cultures, isolated from each other by hundreds of years and thousands of miles," creator Bryce McLellan explained, "Verge is a 'what if' scenario: what if all these people were thrown together into the turbulent melting pot of New York City? In the first Issue of Verge three Samurai are killed, and the main suspect is a Viking. This leads to a violent collision between these two groups; and Detective Connie Liu has to navigate both cultures if she's to find the truth."

McLellan and artist Silvio dB will unleash the world of Verge in four monthly issues this fall starting in September 2021 from Red 5 Comics.

Ohio Heavy Metal Heroes Partner With Writer Tony Lee and Artist Szymon Kudranski For ‘The Journey Below’

LOS ANGELES, CA— Z2 Comics continues to define the relationship between music and comics; bringing together the comics and music communities across genres for biographical works, exciting original concepts, album tie-ins, and more. Today’s announcement pairs this groundbreaking publisher with Ohio’s hardcore stalwarts Beartooth for the official prequel to their brand-new album, Below.

Following up on last week’s release of their brand new album, amidst rave reviews, The Journey Below serves as a prequel to the pummeling sounds of Below; the world of Barry, its demon overlord.

"It rips!" — Stereogum

"A superlative sound" — Forbes

"Bursting with style, substance, and flair" — Loudwire

"Next level heavy" — Knotfest

"Below'is deliberately heavier than anything Beartooth have ever done" — NME

"After going to hell and back, Beartooth come into their own once more and deliver their most raw, honest and raucous offerings to date" — Rock Sound

“Proof that Caleb Shomo is one of his generation’s most remarkable songwriters: the deeper he dives, the higher Beartooth climb” – Kerrang

Beartooth’s Oshie Bichar says “Storytelling has always been something we’ve wanted to dive into as a band. Our goal is to build a universe full of adventure for Beartooth fans to explore.”

The story behind the myths of Beartooth’s album Below is brought to life as Barry awakens corporate drone Lita’s memory of how alive the world once was before the cold forces of the corporate world outlawed rock, reminding her of who she truly was, and who she could be again. Told by #1 New York Times best-selling author Tony Lee with the members of Beartooth, The Journey Below is a powerful tale reminding us of the vital power contained within every chord and beat of a song.

Tony Lee says “I’ve been a fan of Beartooth since Aggressive came out, and I’m over the moon to work with them on this story. The world of Below is a place I’ve wanted to visit a lot during the last year, and now I get to share it with everyone.”

Beartooth will bring their new antihero and mascot Barry to comics this fall in Beartooth: The Journey Below, the official companion to their brand new album, available to preorder now in both a standard softcover and hardcover formats, as well as slipcase, deluxe and super deluxe editions featuring exclusive prints and vinyl.

Discover a Brand New Tale From the Authors of the Official Prequel to
Frank Herbert’s DUNE in July 2021

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 29, 2021) –  BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at DUNE: BLOOD OF THE SARDAUKAR #1, a poignant, blood-soaked tale expanding the rich mythology of Frank Herbert’s Dune, adapted & scripted by New York Times bestselling authors Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, and illustrated by artist Adam Gorham (The New Mutants: Dead Souls, Punk Mambo), colorist Patricio Delpeche (Origins), and letterer Ed Dukeshire (Once & Future), in partnership with Herbert Properties LLC and in full coordination with Abrams ComicArts, who published the first of a trilogy of graphic novel adaptations of Herbert’s original classic novel DUNE in Fall 2020.

When the choice is vengeance or honor, which lies at the heart of a Sardaukar? Jopati Kolona is one of the Sardaukar: the emperor’s elite military unit. The Sardaukar are unbeatable, unbending in their devotion to the emperor, and feared throughout the galaxy. When Jopati meets Duke Leto of House Atreides, the house he believes responsible for the destruction of his home planet and family, he will be forced to question a life-long hatred. Tasked with overthrowing the Atreides stronghold on Dune for his master, Jopati will be forced to choose between duty and forgiveness.

Created by visionary writer Frank Herbert, Dune debuted in 1965, has sold millions of copies and is arguably the most admired science fiction novel of all time. THE SHOOT (The Story of our Project!)
Five years ago I began a creative journey. It had nothing to do with art or my career at all. It began... in the Ring!
My name was Andy Belanger, Comic artist and creator, animator and storyboard artist. I’ve worked for years in the mainstream comic market, plus a wide variety of projects in the Film, Television and Video Game industries. I worked for such publishers as D.C. comics, Wildstorm, Heavy Metal Magazine, TKO, IDW, Boom, Valiant, Dynamite and IMAGE comics. I created and drew the series Southern Cross with Becky Cloonan for Image comics which was optioned by NBC Universal to become an Anime in Japan. I drew The Simulationists, Mythopia and Rattlehead for Heavy Metal Magazine with Grant Morrison, Duncan Trussell, Donny Cates and Dan Fogler. I worked with Andrew Stott on the WWE comics line for Boom Studios and at TKO I illustrated the fight comic Pound for Pound with Natalie Chaidez. My other works include SwampThing with Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire for D.C.comics, Friday the 13th with Joshua Hale Fialkov for Wildstorm and The Kill Shakespeare series with Conor McCreery and Anthony Del Col at IDW. I was the trailer animator on FarCry 3 Blood Dragon for UbiSoft which won multiple awards. My career has been amazing, but then, like I said, 5 years ago everything changed.

When I moved to Montreal, I was taken to my first indie wrestling show at IWS (the International Wrestling Syndicate). It was nothing short of amazing and I never missed another show, my love of wrestling had truly been reignited. I noticed how the match structure felt just like comics. The heroes, the villains, the hero's journey playing out in front of me every glorious match. Right then and there I knew I wanted to make the most crazy insane wrestling comic of all time. Andrew Stott, a local wrestler and writer, asked me to give training a try at their new school (the IWS Dojo). My second practice match and I was hooked, I fell in love with the craft, I fell in love with performing for fans and my catalogue of ideas for my comic went from a spark to a roaring bonfire. That’s when Andy Belanger went home to be a family man, and “THE ANIMAL” BOB ANGER was born!

After 5 years of wrestling and writing the epic MOTHER TRUCKER, “THE ANIMAL” is finally ready to lay it all on the line, jump off the top rope and present this book to the world. Book 1 is wrapped, now I just need your help to bring it to the printers, unlock amazing rewards, skip the middleman, the gatekeepers and ship it directly to you! Hop on board and let’s get MOTHER TRUCKIN’.
Picture
THE WORK (This is Mother Trucker!)
A Sci-Fi saga about a space-truckin’, ass-stompin', wrestle goddess, who’s on a quest to find her long lost daughter and become the greatest trucker of all time and the Champion of Truck Off, the Wrestlemania of the starways.
Mother Trucker is Over the Top and Running Man meets Barbarella and Wonder woman. The world she inhabits is 80’s WWF Wrestling, Monster Trucks and far out Americana. Essentially a Heavy metal magazine version of American Kinnikuman.

PART 2 the CUT OFF "Faced with a new found fame as a killer upstart in the outer rim trucking sector, Mother Trucker and her pup Trucky are in bad need of some repairs. They crash land on an infamous floating truckstop, Big Momma Burgers, where she's faced with some gnarly characters from her past and the devastating tag team of Tina Torque and Debbie Death-Haul. It's ladies night in the 18 wheeled squared circle, will Mother Trucker come out on top!?"

Mother Trucker is a love letter to the Saturday morning cartoon world building with a truck load of edge and heart. It’s big Dudes, big Trucks, big business brought to heel by one bad Mother Trucker. In a Galaxy where trucking reality shows and wrestling rules entertainment, Truck Off is the ultimate annual event. Truck off is a high stakes competition where the best intergalactic shipping contracts are won by wrestling on the backs of trucks while racing around the rings of Saturn. Can Mother Trucker go all the way and take the Bridge-mart Championship belt at Truck Off 12 and win the Truck of her dreams? Big wig corporate giants will do anything to keep her from winning, keep her from the prize and keep her from the truth of her past. To take them on she’ll need to become the baddest Mother Trucker in the galaxy.

“The goal of Skybound has always been to create the best comics that bring new readers to the medium we love so much, and Skybound Comet is the next step in that mission,” said Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Editor-in-Chief, Skybound Entertainment. “We’ll be not only exploring pop culture phenomenon like The Walking Dead from a whole new perspective, but also bringing you entirely new worlds and new characters that we know will capture the hearts of readers of all ages.”

“These three launches are only the beginning of our long-term graphic novel plan,” said Alex Antone, Senior Editor, Skybound Entertainment. “We’re committed to igniting the imaginations of young people with exciting new genre adventures from diverse storytellers for many years to come."

It’s a new beginning for Clementine, the star of the bestselling video game franchise TELLTALE’S THE WALKING DEAD, in Clementine Book One, as she’s back on the road, looking to put her traumatic past behind her and forge new path all her own. But when she comes across an Amish teenager named Amos with his head in the clouds, the unlikely pair journeys North to an abandoned ski resort in Vermont, where they meet up with a small group of teenagers attempting to build a new, walker-free settlement. As friendship, rivalry, and romance begin to blossom amongst the group, the harsh winter soon reveals that the biggest threat to their survival…might be each other.

“Starting out with a character like Clementine is both a huge responsibility and joy. Clementine is a person who brings adventure with her everywhere she goes, and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to take her beyond the world of the games, to somewhere new and thrilling (like the top of a mountain!),” said Walden. “She is a force and drawing and writing her story has been one of the best experiences in my cartooning life.”

Clementine makes her first comic book appearance in Skybound X #1, available in comic shops and at digital providers on July 7, 2021.

In Everyday Hero Machine Boy, the titular hero falls from the sky to the domed city of Mega 416, leaving a wake of destruction in his path…until Karate Grandpa is able to turn on his heart. Now, Machine Boy wants nothing more than to become a hero! Whether he is fighting giant bugs in the school's basement, rescuing cats from trees, or making the perfect spaghetti sauce, Machine Boy is always looking for the best way to help others. But when his heart begins to interact dangerously with other debris from space, Machine Boy wonders if he can be a power for good after all.

"Machine Boy was initially inspired by '80s anime, 16-bit video games, and kung fu movies but as Irma and I delved deeper into his world, we found ourselves telling a story about the pain and joys of growing up,” said Vuong. “Hopefully it touches on those collective childhood memories and experiences that we all seem to share."

“The world of Everyday Hero Machine Boy kept getting more ludicrous as we worked on the story, but somehow more real. I wanted to live in Mega416 and could relate to the characters, even though that character might be a chicken jock,” said Kniivila. “We had a lot of big feelings while working on this story, and hope that it inspires big feelings too!”

Machine Boy makes his first comic book appearance in Skybound X #2, available in comic shops and at digital providers on July 14, 2021.

The end of the world is coming in Sea Serpent’s Heir Book One as a teen named Aella on Kinamen Isle spends her days fishing and minding her aunts, dreaming of life beyond the horizon. Everything changes, however, when she awakens an ancient evil within herself as it’s revealed that she’s the reincarnation of Xir, the serpent that almost destroyed the world. Worse yet, a fanatical religious organization has arrived on Kinamen Isle in search of Xir.

“Adolescence is about finding yourself. Like finding out you’re destined to destroy the world, or that your whole village is made up of blood-thirsty pirates, or that… Okay, adolescence isn’t usually like this,” said Scott. “There are a lot of books about young women discovering they’re destined to save the world. This book is about a young woman who learns she’s destined to destroy it, and what exactly she does next.”

“In this strange world, with its stormy nights, tropical islands and ruthless magical pirates, I see echoes of the darkest Jim Henson or Arthur Rackham but I also see the mystery of the first kisses and the tenderness of mythological beasts,” said Tunica. “And if I mention the horror of the dark and the curiosity about magic, it is because that is precisely the feeling of growing up.”

Aella makes her first comic book appearance in Skybound X #4, available in comic shops and at digital providers on July 28, 2021.

All Skybound Comet releases  will be available at  comic book shops, bookstores and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play in 2022.
