ENTER THE WORLD OF DISSONANCE THIS JANUARY

10/31/2017

PORTLAND, OR, 10/31/2017 — Designer Melita Curphy and writer Singgih Nugroho team up with artist Sami Basri (Power Girl, WITCHBLADE) for the sci-fi/fantasy drama DISSONANCE, coming this January from Image Comics/Top Cow.

“I am thrilled to see this world unfold thanks to Singgih, and my designs taken to new heights in the capable hands of Sami!” said Curphy. “Seraphim started out as a superhero helmet I made for myself years ago, and the folks at Glitch have made that come to life as an action figure and now a comic book. As a toy/comic fan for 30+ years, this is a dream come true!”

In an alternate world where Earth is populated with powerful human-spirit hybrids called Fantasmen, Folke and Roisia Herviett, two siblings with opposing worldviews, are challenged to prove their worth and take up their parents’ positions in a devious group that secretly runs the world. Meanwhile, Seraphim, a Fantasmen warrior guard, is sent to prevent a catastrophic event from affecting the Earth and its own universe.

“To build a unique world and write an engaging story from action figure lines is an interesting challenge, especially for a guy who spent his last decade writing for advertising,” said Nugroho. “But with inspiring design from Mel and great interpretation from Sami, I believe we just cracked an appealing approach that will excite readers.”

“When I was shown Murphy's designs for this comic, I was blown away,” added Basri. “I love fantastic creatures, but my previous projects didn't really involve much of them as a subject, so I was really happy at the chance to do DISSONANCE. Being given the liberty to help visually develop a totally new fantasy world, with an edgy script accompanying—it's a fantastic feeling.”

DISSONANCE #1 (Diamond code: NOV170644) hits comic book shops Wednesday, January 10th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, December 18th.

Proudly, we've seen a lot of our creators go on to big adventures in the world of comics. Nothing makes us happier than when the comics community as a whole recognizes the talent we saw when we first partnered with a creator. Today we're pleased to announce that 215 Ink alumnus Eric Grissom and current 215 Ink Art Director Will Perkins are the latest to join these ranks with their book Gregory Suicide.

It's a 144-page SciFi adventure coming out through Dark Horse Books on November 22nd. The book follows an obsolete A.I. program known as Gregory as he wakes in an unfamiliar world and is haunted by the memories of his past lives, each ending in death by his own hand. On the path to discovering the truth about himself, Gregory slips into the trenches of two opposing forces: the deadly A.I. who replaced him and a group of humans who want to destroy him and all his kind. In the end, Gregory must choose a side in the coming revolution and the key to everything may lie in the strange visions he has between life and death.

Kismet Chapter 4 Begins

(October 31, 2017) A  Wave Blue World announced today that Chapter 4 of KISMET, MAN OF FATE is live on their site as part of their digital Undercurrent imprint.  This new chapter is timely as it takes place at the end of the 2016 election. Kismet as a character first came to life in the pages of the Golden Age title Bomber Comics #1 in 1943 to fight fascists. Creator A. David Lewis started this new series in 2017 after the surge of misogyny, racism, and sexism that followed the election. This new chapter begins with the character understanding his pivotal roll in a world overwhelmed with turmoil. The digital series updates on #tidaltuesdays. Get caught up in the undercurrent at
http://awaveblueworld.com/under-current/kismet-man-of-fate/. A Wave Blue World will release a print collected version of the comic in summer of 2018.

Creator A. David Lewis explains, “It was only after Trump won the nomination and then the election that I personally realized what I had brought Kismet out of the public domain for. I had already been writing new adventures for him for 1-2 years, but by Inauguration Day and certainly the 1st Muslim Ban, it became obvious that he was an old hero needed to thwart a new kind of villain. For me, the Kismet stories shifted from whim to duty.”

What others are saying about Kismet, Man Of Fate:
“I have to say; I'm really loving Kismet; it's the first digital comic that I'm actively following. I love what you're doing with it, and between the topicality, the nuanced take on the Shazam-esque concept, I feel like it has the potential of being both movingly political while a  really special take on the alt-history superhero-in-the-real-world story.” - Pornak Pietschote, Writer upcoming INFIDEL series for Image Comics

“The KISMET team has created a gorgeous series so far from pencils to colors to letters. Noel Tuazon was an Eisner-nominated artist before coming on board for the Broken Frontier short story. The colors and rich, earthy pallet from Rob Croonenborghs bring warmth to the pages. Then we have the genius of lettering, Taylor Esposito, who took over a series regular. Taylor was recently nominated for a Mike Wieringo Award.”- Amber Love-Vodka O’Clock podcast

About Kismet, Man Of Fate
Punching Nazis used to be more than a meme. In 1944, it was a vocation. And no one put his gloved fist in the faces of more fascists than the Man of Fate, the Algerian Operative, our man in Occupied France — Kismet.  Then, he disappeared. Gone without a trace… until now.
Back from beyond, Kismet finds a new world of gay rights, quantum physics, and computer technology along with the old evils of bigotry, greed, and ignorance at a crossroads. Twenty-first-century America needs more than a superhero. It needs an ally.

TITAN COMICS TO PUBLISH BLOODBORNE COMICS – BASED ON THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED VIDEOGAME SERIES!

10/31/2017

Picture
New original comic adventures based in the eldritch world of the best-selling video game!

Discover the terrifying secrets of Old Yharnam in a brand-new Bloodborne comic series from Titan Comics, which spins out of JAPAN Studio and Fromsoftware’s critically-acclaimed Bloodborne videogame!

The Bloodborne videogame series debuted on PlayStation®4 in late March 2015. As announced at the SCEJA Press Conference 2015, Bloodborne went on to sell more than 2 million copies, as well as expanding the game world with an expansion DLC, “The Old Hunters” which launched on November 24, 2015. Nominated for eight Golden Joystick Awards, the blood-chilling videogame won “PlayStation®4 Game of the Year” and “Best Original Game” in 2015’s Golden Joystick Awards.

In Titan Comics’ new Bloodborne: The Death of Sleep - written by Ales Kot (Generation Gone, Zero), with art by Piotr Kowalski (Wolfenstein, Dark Souls) - a nameless Hunter awakens in an ancient city where horrific beasts stalk the shadows and the streets run slick with the blood of the damned. Seeking an escape from the endless Night of the Hunt, the Hunter embarks upon a dangerous, gore-filled quest with the hopes of ending Yharnam’s twisted endemic.

"Bloodborne is one of my all-time favorite games. I put close to two hundred hours into playing it and researching its universe, and that was before I even knew there would be a comic -- I was obsessed,” said Bloodborne writer Ales Kot, “I am honored to be working within the Bloodborne universe. There will be mystery, the weird, the eerie, the horrific and the bloody -- and there will be an undercurrent of decaying romanticism, walking hand in hand with brain-mashing, soul-cleaving action, together ascending towards the Blood Moon as drawn by the talented and depraved Piotr Kowalski. Ascend with us, Hunters old and new. And do remember -- one has to seek Paleblood to transcend the hunt."

Bloodborne: The Death of Sleep will be available to order from Diamond’s upcoming December edition of PREVIEWS Catalogue. Issue #1 is scheduled to hit comic stores and digital devices in February 2018!

Writer Jen Vaughn and Artist Michelle Wong scare up
a new Goosebumps comic series this February

San Diego (October 11, 2017) – IDW Publishing, in association with Scholastic, is releasing the second three-issue arc in R.L Stine’s Goosebumps comic series. “DOWNLOAD AND DIE!” is a brand-new self-contained story set in the Goosebumps universe from the talented duo of writer Jen Vaughn (Adventure Time) and artist Michelle Wong (Tomboy).

In the tradition of the classic “Say Cheese and Die!” story, this spiritual successor takes that concept and puts a digital spin on it for the iPhone generation. Today’s kids will now have to contend with a smartphone app that snaps filtered pictures which depict nightmarish outcomes. In true Goosebumps fashion, the danger is real!

"This Goosebumps tale is going to delve into what makes friends tick and what can drive them apart,” said Vaughn. “What's that saying, 'you can always make new friends?' Well, not when people find out what you did to your last ones. Michelle brought my characters to life so well...too well. They laugh, they cry, they dream, and bleed through the power of her lines. I'm terrified to read the comic now.”

"Creepy stories are my favorite, and Jen is making this one so much fun to work with,” said Wong. “I love drawing cute characters, and I love drawing monsters - it's a dream come true."

“DOWNLOAD AND DIE!” will follow on the horrifying heels of the highly anticipated debut series, Goosebumps: Monsters at Midnight, from writer Jeremy Lambert and artist Chris Fenoglio, launching on 10/25, just in time for Halloween!

Comic readers, beware, you're in for a scare when “DOWNLOAD AND DIE!” launches in February.

IDW Publishing and Dynamite Entertainment Bring
Two Iconic Action Lines Together in Comic Book Mini-series

San Diego, CA (October 11, 2017) — Yo, Steve! The Six Million Dollar Man (aka Steve Austin) and G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero, are teaming up for a 4-part comic book crossover from IDW and Dynamite Entertainment beginning January 2018.

The series will be scripted by rising star writer Ryan Ferrier (TMNT: Dimension X, Rocko’s Modern Life) with art by SL Gallant, who has achieved an epic run on G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero, alongside legendary G.I. JOE writer, Larry Hama, for over 75 issues.

“To say Shannon and I are having fun with bringing these two iconic properties together would be a massive understatement,” said Ferrier. “We are going full-tilt and no-holds-barred with this story. It's everything we love about G.I. JOE, the classic characters, and massive action, colliding face-first with the steel-infused, secret agent coolness of The Six Million Dollar Man. We are chomping at the bit for everyone to read this comic with a kung fu grip.”

“Ryan and Shannon have found the perfect story to tell,” said IDW’s Editor in Chief, David Hedgecock. “Fans both new and old are going to be amazed at what this creative team is putting together. This series beautifully blends all the classic tropes of the characters while simultaneously creating something exciting and fresh. We are thrilled to be working with this team and with the fine folks at Dynamite to bring this series to the fans.”

"G.I. JOE and Steve Austin, The Six Million Dollar Man, are two pop culture mainstays who have influenced the comics industry for years,” said Dynamite CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci. “We've had great runs with our Six Million Dollar Man series, and long been admirers of IDW's ongoing G.I. JOE series. Now is the time for these two to cross-over and we couldn't be more excited to be collaborating on this event series, and working with our good friends at IDW."

Variant covers will be provided by John Cassaday, Ken Lashley, and Mike Zeck. Special action figure covers will also be may orderable from your local comic shop. Subject to availability while supplies last.

The action-packed cross-over event of 2018 kicks off this January!
