The World's Cutest Monster Debuts in Bodie Troll

"Bodie Troll is a book so alive with masterful cartooning that I feel it may start moving if I look at it long enough." –Skottie Young (I Hate Fairyland)

"Bodie is a showplace of Jay's stunning art and snappy humor." –Katie Cook
(My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic)

“Jay has perfectly blended the animated, cute, and humorous sensibilities of Jay Ward's Rocky & Bullwinkle with the emotional weight and resonance of Jim Henson's Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas.”
–David Petersen (Mouse Guard)

September 8, 2017 (Los Angeles, Calif.) – BOOM! Studios is thrilled to announce BODIE TROLL, a new all-ages graphic novel written and illustrated by Jay Fosgitt (Marvel’s Rocket Raccoon & Groot) charging into stores February 2018 about a seemingly fearsome monster who is actually a lovable grump. This giant graphic novel comes in at over 250 pages and includes all the content previously published by Red 5 Comics plus all-new original stories about Bodie’s continuing adventures.

The villagers of Hagadorn whisper tales of Bodie Troll’s ferociousness and tread lightly when they cross his bridge. At least, that’s what Bodie would like to think. Despite his desires to strike fear in the hearts of others, Bodie is a cute and cuddly grump of a troll. But what he might lack in ferocity, he makes up for in spirit. Alongside his best friend Cholly and her Fairy Godmother, Bodie has a habit of finding trouble and adventure. If he’s lucky, he just might scare someone along the way.

“While Bodie dreams of being the villain of this fairytale world, despite his best efforts, he inevitably winds up the hero every time,” says Fosgitt.

“My inspiration for BODIE TROLL was my love of fairytales, folklore, and mythology,” Fosgitt continues. “I wanted to imbue it with anachronistic humor to make the characters and their stories relatable to our own world, while having a warm heart at the center of the silliness. I wanted to create something that Jim Henson would have appreciated.”

BODIE TROLL is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ critically acclaimed KaBOOM! imprint, publisher of acclaimed licensed series such as Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, Peanuts, and Garfield, along with original series like Brave Chef Brianna by Sam Sykes and Selina Espiritu, and The Deep by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer.

“Jay Fosgitt is an amazing cartoonist and BODIE TROLL is great story filled with lovable, awkward, and always relatable characters,” says Whitney Leopard, Editor, BOOM! Studios.

Print copies of BODIE TROLL will be available for sale February 2018 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one); booksellers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million;  or at the BOOM! Studios webstore . Digital copies can be purchased from content providers including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play,  and the BOOM! Studios app.

BASTARD’S WALTZ Trade Paperback Releases September 2017
– “It's The Dance Of Death” –

Los Angeles, CA (September, 2017) – Bastard’s Waltz, an all-new, full-length adult crime/conspiracy saga, releases as a trade paperback book on September 27, 2017, courtesy of Darby Pop Publishing.  This graphic novel was written by Mark Bertolini with art and cover by Giovanni Guida.
Logline: Bastard’s Waltz is a super-powered thriller with both unlikely friendship and tragic duplicity at its cold heart.  When superhuman miscreant John the Bastard is targeted for death, he forces a young Secret Service Agent (Ezekiel Sweet) to protect both his life and his secrets.  But, Sweet has secrets of his own…
Series Synopsis: John the Bastard is the world’s most dangerous supervillain; his name alone has struck fear into the hearts of most heroes for decades.  But now John finds himself in the crosshairs of a talented upstart, and only Secret Service protection specialist Ezekiel Sweet can keep John safe from the swarm of psychopaths heading his way.  With Sweet a reluctant guardian, a traitor in their midst, and John’s skills markedly slipping, who will survive the ultimate showdown?
“Similar in tone to Super-Crooks by Mark Millar and the Clint Eastwood film In the Line of Fire – and featuring a striking design aesthetic and muted palette, Bastard’s Waltz surprises at every grisly turn,” said Jeff Kline, founder of Darby Pop Publishing.
The Bastard’s Waltz trade paperback hits comic book stores, bookstores, and online retailers in September 27, 2017, and will be available for $19.99. It can be ordered by retailers from Diamond Book Distributors with Diamond Code JUL171819.

ATLAS COMICS IS RETURNING TO CHICAGO POP CULTURE RETAILER REOPENS SEPTEMBER 30th

(September, 2017 – Chicago, IL) - Atlas Comics, a fixture of the Chicago-area pop culture retail community for 25 years will return to a new retail space at 5251 N. Harlem Avenue in Chicago, just miles from their old location. The store lost the lease to its suburban Norridge store in 2013 and migrated to online and subscription-only business. After a four year hiatus, Atlas will have its Grand Re-opening from 12:00 - 6:00pm on Saturday, September 30th.

According to Atlas owner John Stangeland, the store will be a little different than it once was. "We were always known as the place for vintage back issues," he said. "And we'll still have a deep inventory of classic comics. But the industry is changing, and Atlas needs to do the same thing. That means providing a larger selection of graphic novels in a variety of genres from all over the world, and casting a wider net over the pop-culture landscape. And it means more toys and gaming, too." In addition, Stangeland promised that the general ambiance of the shop will be upgraded. "I think there will be a little less Tchiakovsky and a little more Ramones," he said. "The customers have been punished enough."
Asked why he decided to return now, Stangeland was enthusiastic. "It's just the right time. I was a little burned out before," he said, "but I got the itch back. The recent movies have been great, lots of interesting new creators, new publishers - it's a very exciting time. I want to be in the thick of it again."

Opening day will feature free comics and giveaways, a sale including thousands of comics priced $1 or less, discounts on vintage back issues, supplies, toys, games and memorabilia, and around the clock music, movies and cartoons. There will also be food (catered), drink (lots of it) and conversation (cheap).
For more information on opening day and store hours visit https://www.facebook.com/Atlas-Comics-233705150009561/ or www.acomics.com for more details, or call 708 453-2110.

MORE ABOUT ATLAS COMICS:
Atlas Comics opened in the spring of 1988, just months after the end of Reagan administration. It has witnessed the birth of Image Comics, the death of Superman and the afterlife of Archie. It is acknowledged as one of Chicago's premiere destinations for vintage back issues, and as long as there are still people who care, it always will be.

The Netflix Animated Series ‘Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters’ based on the
Hasbro Property receives a Comic Book tie-in from IDW Publishing

San Diego, CA (September 8, 2017) –STRETCH ARMSTRONG will be flexing his multi-media muscles even further this coming January when the first issue of STRETCH ARMSTRONG AND THE FLEX FIGHTERS arrives.

Based on the all-new Netflix animated series and inspired by the classic toy line, Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters features Jake Armstrong, a teenage superhero who teams up with his high school friends after they are exposed to experimental chemicals that give them amazing powers. Along with his partners Ricardo Perez, AKA Omni-Mass, and Nathan Park, AKA Wingspan, they’re a diverse group of heroes who attend high school by day and fight crime by night in the futuristic Charter City!

The comics will be written by series Executive Producers and head writers Kevin Burke & Chris “Doc” Wyatt with art by Nikos Koutsis (Savage Dragon). Cover art will be provided by Aluir Amancio (Superman Adventures) and Koutsis. Burke & Wyatt developed STRETCH ARMSTRONG for television in collaboration with fellow Executive Producer, Victor Cook.

"We're so excited to bring STRETCH ARMSTRONG into comics with IDW," says Burke. "Our teen superhero TV series is very much influenced by classic comics, so Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters having their own monthly print adventures feels like a perfect fit."

"We're carefully designing the STRETCH ARMSTRONG comic book stories to work as 'stand alones' for people who haven't seen the Netflix series yet, but to also reward viewers of the show with more depth on their favorite characters," says Wyatt. "We're having a blast writing these issues."

The forthcoming comic book series will take place during the events of this fall’s debut season of the Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters animated series. Fans who pick up the comic series will get an early glimpse at a new villain introduced in the comics before making its broadcast debut, laying the groundwork for more adventures to come! It wouldn’t be a stretch to say Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters #1 will be available in print and digital January 2018.
