American Mythology Unleashes Adam Green's HATCHET In 2017!
Victor Crowley Returns to Comics

[Baltimore, Maryland] –  American Mythology makes its first announcement for an upcoming line of horror comics that will leave fans screaming for more. The company is bringing the slasher horror trilogy Hatchet back to fans in early 2017, promising all the gory fun of the cult classic films as only Victor Crowley can bring. Hold on to your seats, it’s going to be a bloody good time.

The Hatchet series has been a staple of horror movie lovers since the original film premiered in 2006, and who can blame them with a who’s who of horror legends appearing in the trilogy like Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, Robert Englund, Tony Todd, Sid Haig, and Zach Galligan. Based in the folklore and voodoo of the back swamps of the Louisiana bayou, the story tells the sad tale of a deformed boy and what it takes to make a rampaging psychopath who’s handy with power tools. Enter a young girl named Marybeth, looking for her own revenge, and you’ll see why writer/director Adam Green hit slasher gold with the movies.

Under partnership with the series’ creator/licensor Adam Green and ArieScope Pictures, American Mythology promises to take the story in bold new directions, giving fans what they expect from the series, but also delving into as yet unexplored parts of Victor Crowley’s bloody past with not just one, but a series of planned story arcs revolving around the character. The company has already recruited a seasoned cast of veteran artists guaranteed to satisfy even the most hard core of horror fanatics with Andrew Mangum drawing the book’s interior art and covers by the likes of Greg LaRocque, Buz Hasson, and Ken Haesser.

And if that wasn’t enough to whet your horror appetite, the Hatchet series is only the tip of the proverbial butcher knife with the company’s plans to keep readers up all night in 2017 with their “Year of Horror”. AM cracked open the closet door this year with their new Dark line of comics, spawning titles like the hit independent series Werewolves vs Dinosaurs, but the publisher is blowing the proverbial hinges off with an upcoming 2017 horror catalog of some of the biggest names in the genre.

“ArieScope Pictures has set a new benchmark for slasher horror over the course of the last decade that has left fans of their movies craving for more,” said Michael Bornstein, American Mythology Productions publisher. “They’ve hit a niche with a hard-core horror fan-base that was really a no-brainer for us at American Mythology to jump on board with. Blending comedy, horror, and classic one-liners, the Hatchet series is the perfect fit for us as we launch a new line of horror comics next year.  We’re looking to throw a total fear fest for fans starting this spring, and Victor Crowley is just the guy we want at the door greeting guests as we kick this off. Let’s just hope he leaves his belt sander at home.”
