Vampirella Encounters Dejah Thoris in New Dynamite Series! Author Erik Burnham and Artist Ediano Silva Deliver Iconic Crossover Event

June 19, 2018, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment is set to deliver the latest in epic crossover events with Vampirella/Dejah Thoris! The pulp tale that was destined to happen was created by Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters, KISS: The Demon) and Ediano Silva (Pathfinder: Runescars, Killer Instinct) is headed to stands this September!

In Vampirella/Dejah Thoris, when an alien scout ship crashes on Mars, Dejah Thoris must risk reigniting war with the Green Martians and becoming dinner for the white apes.  But the stakes are raised so much higher when the ship is revealed to carry Vampirella, who is on a desperate mission of survival—one that might end before it truly begins!

“Not a lot of folks know this, but some of my earliest work in comics was an unpublished adaptation of A Princess of Mars... I discovered Barsoom and Dejah Thoris then, and I’m ecstatic to not only play in that sandbox again but also introduce the princess to Vampirella!” says writer Erik Burnham.

"There’s so much love for both of these iconic characters, we wanted to wait for the right time with the right creative team to see a crossover come to life,” said Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite Entertainment. “Dejah Thorishas been one of our strongest characters and matching her with everyone’s fan favorite, Vampirella, just seems like a match worthy of comic history!”

“This book is gonna be full of pulp fun — dead cities, vampires, carnivorous apes, and a pending alien invasion... all beautifully rendered by Ediano Silva,” added Burnham.

Created in 1969, Vampirella has thrived for nearly 50 years delivering classic tales of terror in comics, graphic novels, and magazines.  These cover images helped to define the horror comic genre with master illustrators like Frank Frazetta, Sanjulian, Bill Hughes, Jose Gonzalez, Enrich, Esteban Maroto, and Paul Gulacy, along with a host of other legendary contributing artists.

Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic character, Dejah Thoris, the Princess of Mars, debuted in 1912, and ever since, science fiction and fantasy enthusiasts have dreamed of the faraway Red Planet and all of its wondrous sights and monstrous perils. A strong and talented royal, Dejah served as inspiration for such heroines such as Princess Leia of Star Wars and Neytiri of James Cameron's Avatar. Since her comic book debut in 2010, she has constantly served as an adventurous mainstay at Dynamite.

The debut issue of Vampirella/Dejah Thoris features a wide selection of cover variants, providing fans and retailers with the freedom of choice! The cover artwork features the talents of Jan Anacleto (Dejah Thoris and The Green Men of Mars), Carlo Pagulayan (Deathstroke), Stephen Segovia (Dark Wolverine), Joe Jusko (Warlord of Mars) and two cosplay photo covers, respectively.
A Blank Authentix Edition will be available as a variant for Vampirella/Dejah Thoris #1 featuring the same great story, but with a blank cover for fans to get their favorite artist to draw their version of Dejah, Vampi, of both. An Atlas Edition will also be available for fans wishing to have their issue signed by writer Erik Burnham.

Vampirella/Dejah Thoris #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' July 2018 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in September 2018. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies of Vampirella/Dejah Thoris #1 with their local comic book retailers. Vampirella/Dejah Thoris #1 will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital.

--Brian Michael Bendis

PORTLAND, OR, 06/19/2018 — The first issue of the breakout hit, GIDEON FALLS, from the creative team behind Green Arrow and Old Man Logan--New York Timesbestselling and Eisner Award-winning writer Jeff Lemire (ROYAL CITY, DESCENDER) and critically acclaimed artist Andrea Sorrentino—will now boast a very special Director’s Cut edition.

GIDEON FALLS is a series that explores the lives of a reclusive young man obsessed with a conspiracy in the city’s trash, and a washed up Catholic priest arriving in a small town full of dark secrets. Los Angeles, CA (June 15, 2018) – BOOM! Studios is proud to announce OVER THE GARDEN WALL: HOLLOW TOWN #1, beginning a new five issue limited series set in the world inspired by the Emmy® Award-winning Cartoon Network animated series Over The Garden Wall.

Writer Celia Lowenthal (The Storyteller: Fairies) and artist Jorge Monlongo (Powerpuff Girls, Rugrats) send Wirt, Greg, and Beatrice on an all-new adventure in the Unknown as they stumble on a small town inhabited entirely by eerie porcelain doll-people. After Greg loses a shoe to a pond-turtle, it’s up to Wirt to earn money for a new pair, leading him to babysit some doll-children that may cause Wirt to stay in town forever…

OVER THE GARDEN WALL: HOLLOW TOWN #1 features a main cover by Celia Lowenthal, along with variant covers by Natalie Hall (Adventure Time) and Miguel Mercado (Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers).

“With OVER THE GARDEN WALL: HOLLOW TOWN, I’ve been trying to lean into and expand upon some of the great aspects of the show: adolescent social anxiety, patterns and tropes from fairytales, and – of course – spooky things from the woods that aren’t quite what they seem,” said Celia Lowenthal. “Over The Garden Wall is just such a good story; it’s really awesome to get to play around in its universe and, hopefully, do something new and fun!”

“I love everything about Over The Garden Wall -  the characters, colors, music... and the way horror and tenderness blend together,” said Jorge Monlongo. “Working on this new series so exciting.I enjoy drawing old houses and antique clothes, malefic trees, sinister creatures and frogs. But what I love the most is drawing Greg!”

OVER THE GARDEN WALL: HOLLOW TOWN is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ award-winning KaBOOM! imprint, home to comics for middle grade and younger readers including licensed series such as Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Peanuts, and Garfield, along with original series like Mega Princess by Kelly Thompson and  Brianne Drouhard, Bodie Troll by Jay Fosgitt, and The Deepby Tom Taylor and James Brouwer.

Studios. “Pat McHale created an amazing world with Over The Garden Wall and we’re really excited about this chance to introduce readers to more adventures with these amazing characters. Celia and Jorge have created a special story in OVER THE GARDEN WALL: HOLLOW TOWN about family, responsibility and the true dangers of strange dolls, you don’t want to miss is.”

Carnifex’s Scott Ian Lewis Launches “Death Dreamer” Graphic Novel

San Diego, CA, June 12, 2018: Dealing in death isn’t an easy business, but for the multi-talented and tormented Scott Ian Lewis, death is life. Having spent the past 13 years as vocalist for the reigning death metal band, Carnifex, Lewis has is ready to deliver a dark and brilliant new creative chapter with his debut graphic novel, Death Dreamer.

Illustrated by Chris DiBari (Hoax Hunters, Magdalena) with colors by Simon Gough (G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes, Ringside), lettering by Taylor Esposito (Red Hood & The Outlaws, Babyteeth), and cover by Chris Shehan (Prometheus, Deadbeat), Death Dreamer is a horrifically brutal murder mystery inspired largely by Lewis’ work as a funeral director in a mortuary.
“Death Dreamer is a world that's lived in my head for years. First existing on that page as a television script and now it's grown into a graphic novel brought to life by an incredibly talented team of artists,” remarked author Scott Ian Lewis.  “Christian, Simon, Taylor, and Chris have really elevated the characters in a truly amazing way. This book has been created completely independently, from writing the script on tour buses in eastern Europe to finding our amazing artist's through Twitter.”

The Death Dreamer crowdfunding campaign will run full force for 38 days (June 11 - July 18) up to San Diego Comic-Con, where Lewis is set to premiere the finished graphic novel with a slew of signings.  Fans who partake in the crowdfunding campaign will have the chance to pick up their signed edition in person all weekend long.  For backers not able to attend SDCC, fulfillment will happen the same week.

“Releasing the first edition directly in the hands of the fans that have supported me is something I couldn't be more excited for. There is a lot of me in this story and throughout the characters. My hope is you connect with them in a way that pulls you deep into the dark world of Death Dreamer,” added Lewis.

Amazing rewards are waiting for the campaign backers at IndieGoGo, ranging from the signed Death Dreamer graphic novel, a Death Dreamer T-shirt, flag or poster to a custom Death Dreamer evidence bag filled with a patch, a pen from the mortuary and a toe tag.

Nightowl Studios is handling editorial and design for Death Dreamer.
