The Creative Team of Jim Zub and Max Dunbar
Delve Into Upcoming D&D Sourcebook for Inspiration

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 17, 2019) – IDW Publishing reunites the Dungeons & Dragons: Legends of Baldur’s Gate creative team of writer Jim Zub and artist Max Dunbar for an all-new adventure: Dungeons & Dragons: Infernal Tides! Debuting in November 2019, the five-issue miniseries delves into the mythology established in the highly-anticipated D&D adventure Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernusarriving on September 17.

In Infernal Tides, fan-favorite Minsc and his friends are caught in the middle of devil-tainted corruption that has taken hold of Baldur’s Gate. Unravelling the secret of its source will take the heroes to unexpected places and threaten the sanctity of their very souls. Even if they survive this perilous journey, there will be Hell to pay!

"Dungeons & Dragons: Infernal Tides is a wild ride through some of my favorite parts of D&D lore," says Jim Zub. "Getting the chance to help develop the story and setting for a brand new D&D sourcebook directly with the D&D team, having Max Dunbar contribute key concept art to that adventure, and then getting both of us back at IDW to create a brand new comic story that propels Minsc and the rest of the Baldur's Gate heroes into the same kind of devilish danger is an absolute dream come true. This comic is going to be pure D&D-fueled adrenalin. I can't wait for readers to see how it all rolls out.

“I’m so connected to these characters,” Jim continues, “that I’m shaving my head and donning the purple makeup and leather armor to play as Minsc at D&D Live 2019: The Descent. Watch me roll some dice with Chris Perkins as DM and Matthew Mercer playing Boo in the final part of The Descent at dungeonsanddragons.com on May 18 at 8pm PT.”

"I am so thrilled to be able to return to D&D comics with Jim Zub in Dungeons & Dragons: Infernal Tides," says Max Dunbar. “This story plunges our Heroes of Baldur's Gate into an adventure of a scope and scale we haven't seen yet in these comics. We'll dive into the heart of locations and events that are absolutely legendary to D&D. I feel incredibly lucky to be working with Jim Zub, incredible colorist Sebastian Cheng, IDW, and Wizards of the Coast on this vast and diabolical story!"

"We are so excited to be bringing back the original Baldur's Gate creative team for this new series," says David Hedgecock, associate publisher at IDW. "What an incredible privilege it has been to watch these creators and this story become such an important part of D&D canon!"

Infernal Tides, while an accommodating entry point for intrepid new readers, rewards longtime fans as the continuation of Jim Zub’s epic comic book storyline which began with Dungeons & Dragons: Legends of Baldur’s Gate and continued into Shadows of the Vampire, Frost Giant’s Fury, and Evil at Baldur’s Gate.

For information on how to secure copies of the Dungeons & Dragons: Infernal Tides miniseries, please contact your local comic shop or visit www.comicshoplocator.com to find a store near you.

Studios in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products today revealed cover art and story details for ANGEL #2, the newest issue in the game changing series by an all-star creative team of  acclaimed writer Bryan Edward Hill (Batman, American Carnage) and artist Gleb Melnikov (Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers), along with visionary writer and director Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Marvel’s The Avengers), available June 26, 2019.

ANGEL #2 features the first appearance of fan favorite character Winifred “Fred” Burkle, a math and science prodigy whose mysterious link to the demonic world connects her to the supernatural monster hunting her every step and Angel’s search for his humanity. Angel, the vampire with a soul, has been walking the streets of Los Angeles for years, neither human nor vampire but surviving in the shadows of both worlds. After losing his protege to a demon, Angel has decided to find a way to finally return himself to his human form so that he can escape the guilt of his past, dark actions as the murderous Angelus.

The search for a solution to his cursed, tormented existence has led Angel to a sleepy little town in California known as Sunnydale. But as soon as he arrives and begins stalking the shadows to find a way to restore his humanity, a monstrous new threat emerges to hunt down and torture teens all across town. Now Angel’s got two missions on his hands. But will tracking down this new monster mean he loses the chance to become human forever? And what happens when he runs into the demon’s latest prey, a troubled young woman named Winifred Burkle?

This issue has a main cover by artist Dan Panosian (Slots, Batman: Arkham Knight) and a variant cover by illustrator Scott Buoncristiano (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) featuring Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan aka “Lorne” the musically inclined demon from another dimension, introduced in the Angel season one episode “Judgment.”

Created by visionary writer and director Joss Whedon (Marvel’s The Avengers film franchise), Angel premiered on the WB Network on October 5th, 1999 and was a spin-off from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The series ran for five seasons from 1999-2004, starring David Boreanaz as “Angel,” the tortured vampire destined to walk the earth with a soul who moved to LA to set up shop as a supernatural private investigator. Despite Angel’s best efforts to deal with the sins of his past all by himself, Angel Investigations soon became home to other lost souls searching for redemption and willing to fight by his side.

Mountainhead, a Mind-Bending Thriller in Five Frenzied Issues, Debuts in August from IDW

Writer John Lees and Artist Ryan Lee Take Readers Off the Grid…
and On a Collision Course with Horror!

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 17, 2019) – IDW Publishing is proud to announce the August debut of Mountainhead, a five-issue comic book miniseries from writer John Lees (Sink) and artist Ryan Lee(Archer & Armstrong), featuring colors from Doug Garbark and letters from Shawn Lee.

In Mountainhead, Abraham Stubbs and his father Noah roam America in a nomadic existence, convinced that they are being pursued by sinister government forces. Living off the grid, burgling houses to survive, they are unwittingly on a collision course… with the bloodied survivor of a climbing expedition gone horribly wrong. What transpires next is a psychological thriller guaranteed to quicken the pulse! “Don’t slow down. Don’t get comfortable. Don’t think you’re safe. Be ready to run.”

"Mountainhead is a story that means a lot to me, one anchored in character and human drama, but which will also push the envelope with suspense and dread in unorthodox, surprising ways. Abraham Stubbs is a character who has lived in my head for some time, a kid raised from infancy to be a survivor but who could never have anticipated the challenges he's faced with here," says John Lees.

“Visceral, suspenseful, unnerving, and at times, absolutely bonkers – Mountainhead has all the trademarks of quality horror. There's also a pedigree of measured story-craft amidst the havoc and darkness that John brings to this yarn,” says Ryan Lee. “I want to mirror his original vision with my best work, to give readers a lasting story where the craft and passion we put into it comes through in each and every moment.”

“What really grabbed me about this series, apart from its interesting setting and premise, is how it gets into the head of our protagonist as he is put into an impossible situation. Add in some unique horror elements, and Ryan Lee’s vivid art, and this makes for a riveting, engaging read," says editor Bobby Curnow.

Mountainhead joins IDW Publishing’s 2019 roster of celebrated creator-owned titles, whose atmospheric visuals and evocative storytelling that have been met with critical acclaim and swift sales – including Amber Blake, Ghost Tree, and Road of Bones, each of which have required additional printings to meet fan and retailer demand.

For information on how to secure copies of Mountainhead, please contact your local comic shop or visit www.comicshoplocator.com to find a store near you.

Join Saffron And The Women Of Serenity For A Shiny Space Heist In November 2019

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 13, 2019) – BOOM! Studios, in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products. today announced FIREFLY: THE STING, an all new original graphic novel, written by New York Times bestselling author Delilah S. Dawson (Sparrowhawk) and acclaimed artists Pius Bak (The Magicians: Alice’s Story) and Rodrigo Lorenzo (WWE: Undertaker -- Rise of the Deadman) arriving in stores November 2019 that sends the women of Firefly on the ultimate heist!

Saffron -- the enigmatic rogue who captured the hearts of Firefly fans worldwide, as well as the heart of Captain Malcolm Reynolds -- returns to the Serenity. But this time, she’s got no time for Mal, as she’s there to recruit the women of the ship to join her on a heist that has personal stakes for all involved. The cunning grifter joins forces with Zoë, Inara, Kaylee, and River to pull off the greatest theft in all the ‘verse! What could possibly go wrong?

Delilah Dawson is the New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: Phasma as well as the Hit series, the Blud series, Servants of the Storm, the Shadow series (written as Lila Bowen), the Tales of Pell (co-written with Kevin Hearne), and the upcoming Star Wars Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire and The Skywalker Saga. Her creator-owned comics include Ladycastle and Sparrowhawk with BOOM! Studios and the upcoming Star Pig with IDW, and she's written in the worlds of Marvel Action Spider-Man, Adventure Time, Labyrinth, The X-Files, Rick and Morty, Star Wars Adventures, and Star Wars Forces of Destiny.

“ ‘A him gets noticed, a her gets ignored.’ That's the quote from Ocean's 8 that really captured my imagination. I love that idea—that women can use our occasional invisibility as a superpower.” said author Delilah S. Dawson. “I've been a Firefly fan since I saw Serenity in the theatre in 2005 and rushed out to buy the DVD set that night, and it's been a pure joy cracking open each of these unique, powerful women to see what she desires, what she fears, and how far her loyalty to Mal can stretch. Have you ever wondered what Zoë, Kaylee, Inara, and River would do without a single man in the picture? Thanks to Saffron's wiles (and threats), you're about to find out.”

Pius Bak is a comic book artist born and currently living in Lithuania. Mostly self-taught, Bak started his career as a concept artist. He later transitioned to drawing comics, and in 2017, for the first time, his illustrations appeared in the published comic Night Owl Society. Bak has done illustration work for The Magicians: Alice’s Story and Adventure Time with BOOM! Studios as well as various other independent comics projects.

"I'm excited to work with Delilah S. Dawson and Rodrigo Lorenzo on this fun, new story within the Firefly universe, tackling the different elements of a Western and a heist all in one book.” said artist, Pius Bak.

Rodrigo Lorenzo is an artist and illustrator who has done illustration, publicity, and concept art work, including the NBA Playoffs Heroes Wanted campaign. Lorenzo has done illustration work for the WWE series for BOOM! Studios.

“As science fiction lover, I feel honoured to have the chance to be involved with this project.” said artist Rodrigo Lorenzo. “I am really happy with the idea of getting deep into this genre, and I hope to show the strong passion I have always had for this universe.”

FIREFLY: THE STING features a main cover by artist Marco D’Alfonso (Miles Morales: Spider-Man).

Created by Whedon and set 500 years in the future in the wake of a universal civil war,Firefly centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship that doesn't have a planet to call home. Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds, a defeated soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the totalitarian governed Alliance, will undertake any job — legal or not — to stay afloat and keep his crew fed. Thrust together by necessity but staying together out of loyalty, these disparate men and women are seeking adventure and the good life, but face constant challenges on the new frontier, such as avoiding capture by the Alliance, and evading the dangers you find on the fringes of the universe.

“The galaxy is definitely not ready for the combined powers of all the Firefly women. THE STING brings fans’ favourite butt-kicking heroes and foes together in an exciting, never-before-seen combination where everyone’s looking for a big score but for very different reasons,” said Chris Rosa, Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Delilah, Pius, and Rodrigo bring the adventure and thrills of an intricately planned heist to life with this mix of beloved characters and larger-than-life action.”

FIREFLY: THE STING is the newest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including Once & Future by Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora; Faithless by Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet; Abbott from Saladin Ahmed and Sami Kivelä; Bury The Lede from Gaby Dunn and Claire Roe; Grass Kings from Matt Kindt and Tyler Jenkins; and Klaus from Grant Morrison and Dan Mora. The imprint also publishes popular licensed properties including Joss Whedon’s Angel from Bryan Edward Hill and Gleb Melnikov; Buffy The Vampire Slayer from Jordie Bellaire and David Lopez; and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from Ryan Parrott and Danielle Di Nicuolo.
