"A deliciously dark Phantom Tollbooth-like journey told through a lens of broken humanity and a deconstruction of the role-playing game's roots. I am entranced." —Matthew Mercer, Critical Role

PORTLAND, OR 03/22/2019 — Image Comics’ Die #1 by New York Timesbestselling creator Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine) and artist Stephanie Hans is being rushed back for an encore fifth printing due to overwhelming fan interest in the series and to keep up with the series’ breakneck growth.“We felt entirely sure that the fourth printing would be the last, but with another instant sell-out means we just have to go back again,” said Gillen. “We'll be trying to print to match this shocking and humbling demand. High fives to everyone who's joining us on this fantasy adventure."
Die is a pitch-black fantasy where a group of adults have to deal with the returning unearthly horror they barely survived as teenage role-players. The series is perhaps best described as “Goth Jumanji”—but that only captures a sliver of what you’ll find in this series where fantasy gets all too real.
Die #1, 5th printing (Diamond Code FEB198164) and will be available on Wednesday, April 17. The final order cutoff deadline for comic shop retailers is Monday, March 25.
Die is also available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.
Select praise for Die:
“Really couldn’t have enjoyed Die #1 more than I did. Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans are a powerful merging of talents. Feels like a well-oiled team that’s been working together for years. Image Comics continues to innovate.” --Rick Remender, Deadly Class, Low, Black Science, Seven to Eternity
“Utterly beautiful.” --The Hollywood Reporter
“So I read Die today and it’s something special: clever, chilling, beautiful, and surprising. IT’S REAL GOOD AND I THINK YOU SHOULD GET IT.” --Ryan North, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Dinosaur Comics, How To Invent Everything: A Survival Guide For The Stranded Time Traveler
“Emotional evisceration awaits. I cannot recommend this highly enough” --Marguerite Bennett, Animosity, Bombshells
“Seriously, pre-order your copy; it’s so good!” --Women Write About Comics
“I’ve had the pleasure of reading Die from Gillen, Hans & Cowles and it’s everything I love about comics. It’s such a great concept for a series.” --Gerry Duggan, Deadpool, Analog
“Do you wish that IT had fewer clowns luring in sewers with balloons and more RPG sessions that cause kids to disappear for several years? Then Die by Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans is the comic for you! Also, I got to test-play the RPG the book is built around and it’s SO FUN.” --Jody Houser, Stranger Things, Faith, Doctor Who
“Die is a compelling drama, filled with secrets and lies. It has the reliable wit and grace one expects from Gillen along with rich and stunning artwork by Hans, who is without a doubt delivering her best work to date. Gorgeously rendered, perfectly constructed, Die is a fantastic new series that pulls the reader into a new world, in more ways than one.” --Declan Shalvey, Moon Knight, Injection, Return Of Wolverine
“Soooooo Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans’ Die is something ABSURDLY special. Really an incredible book.” --Mags Visaggio, Eternity Girl, Kim & Kim, Sex Death Revolution

Cassie Hack, the Killer of Undead Killers,Sets Her Sights on The Crow!

The Crow: Hack/Slash Brings You the Bloodiest Face-Off in Comics,
Courtesy of Tim Seeley, Jim Terry, and IDW Publishing
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 21, 2019) – Hack/Slash creator Tim Seeley brings his singular vision of horror – and his unique version of the “Final Girl” – to IDW in The Crow: Hack/Slash, a comic book crossover debuting in June. Illustrated by Tim Seeley with inks by returning Crow artist Jim Terry, this four-issue miniseries sees fan-favorite femme fatale Cassie Hack on the trailer of an all-new Crow… one unlike any that fans have seen before!

In The Crow: Hack/Slash #1, a soul is brought back… but something is terribly wrong! The resurrected Angeles Cero won't stop killing on a quest for revenge, and the bodies are piling up. Now, slasher hunter Cassie Hack and her monstrous partner Vlad are on the trail of the Crow Killer, wrongly believing themselves in pursuit of a masked murderer they’ve hunted for years.

"The Crow defined me as a fan of the comics medium, but also introduced me to a whole world of music and fashion that I'd never had access to before – one that completely fit the attitude my teenage brain was desperately looking for,” says Tim Seeley. “It introduced me to the idea that comics could tell dark and personal stories full of pain and beauty. No doubt about it – without O'Barr's original The Crow, there would never have been a Hack/Slash. Mixing Cassie, Vlad, and The Crow has been in the making for 25 years, and my buddy Jim Terry and I cannot wait to unleash it on the world."

Jim Terry says, “O'Barr's The Crow was a turning point for me – his book brought me to indie comics and blew the doors off what I thought a comic could be. Years later, I'd become friends with James and eventually work on The Crow: Skinning the Wolves. It was my first published work and still among the best things I've done, and now I get to work in this universe again with my pal Tim Seeley. He's a clever writer and a gifted storyteller, so I'm excited to take this ride and push some artistic limits!”

Issue #1 will feature a regular cover by Tim Seeley, with a variant edition by Rebekah A. Isaacs (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and a special “inked” variant by Seeley.

For information on how to secure copies of The Crow: Hack/Slash, please contact your local comic shop or visit www.comicshoplocator.com to find a store near you.

Follow the First Daughter's Post-Punk Exploits in Marilyn Manor

IDW Wants to Know: "Where Were You in 1981?"
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 18, 2019) — Writer Magdalene Visaggio and artist Marley Zarcone invite you to the ultimate rager at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Marilyn Manor, a four-issue creator-owned miniseries from IDW Publishing, intended for mature readers!

When the White House goes dark for 17 days in August 1981, the president’s spoiled daughter and her best friend Abe – who claims to be possessed by the spirit of Abe Lincoln – throw the party of the decade, unearthing dead historical figures and government secrets that are better off buried. Sex, drugs, séances, and secret passageways lead to time-bending mystical romps where past and present collide. “We’ve been trying to capture the feel, the excitement, the energy of the rise of the New Romantics, of the decade that embraced excess and excitement in hugely over-the-top ways, and filled it with chaos and insanity. This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever written in the best way possible, like an apocalypse directed by John Hughes,” says co-creator/writer Magdalene Visaggio.

Uniting the red-hot Eisner-nominated talents of Visaggio (Kim & Kim) and Zarcone (Shade, the Changing Girl) for the first time, Marilyn Manor explores identity, classism, appropriation, and friendship, set just in time for the greatest pop cultural marriage to date: the debut of MTV.

“There isn’t an artist alive who could perfectly capture the style and verve of the early ’80s like Marley Zarcone,” says editor Shelly Bond. “Coupled with Irma Kniivila’s vibrant palette, Marilyn Manor is for readers who like a bit of pop art and revisionist history with their coming-of-age satire.”

For information on how to secure copies of Marilyn Manor beginning with its launch issue in June, please contact your local comic shop or visit www.comicshoplocator.com to find a store near you.

Creator Bios

Magdalene Vissagio is the Eisner and GLAAD Media Award-nominated writer behind Kim & Kim and Eternity Girl. She’s written comic books for most major publishers including Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Oni.

Marley Zarcone is the artist on the critically-acclaimed series Shade, the Changing Girl for Gerard Way’s Young Animal imprint. She is the co-creator/artist of Effigy with writer Tim Seeley for Vertigo, and has worked on numerous projects for Image.

"When their homeland comes under a supernatural threat, this apparent samurai story transforms into something more, and fans will be left eager to pick up a new issue to flesh out this debut's big cliffhanger."—ComicBook.com

“Beyond the excitement of Pak creating a new world tied to Asian culture, Ronin Island should land on readers’ radar thanks to artist Giannis Milonogiannis, a fan-favorite for his manga-inspired work”—Paste Magazine

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 15, 2019) – BOOM! Studios today revealed a new look at RONIN ISLAND #2, the next chapter in the new five-issue limited series from superstar writer Greg Pak (Firefly, Star Wars, Mech Cadet Yu) and fan favorite artist Giannis Milonogiannis (Old City Blues) that sold out of RONIN ISLAND #1 on its day of release. Two brave young warriors must overcome their differences to save their home from a mutant zombie horde that seeks to mindlessly destroy them all.

After a mysterious attack devastates a great swath of 19th century Japan, Korea, and China, survivors from all three lands find refuge on a hidden island and build a new society. The island has endured generations of devastation and strife by hiding away from the larger world, but that’s no longer an option when an army of mainland soldiers, led by General Sato, lands on their shores with a terrifying warning. Their arrival heralds a deadly invasion of mutants, and brings with it an offer of safety that comes at a cost. Hana and Kenichi must not only fight for their survival against the mutant hordes but also for their freedom under the rule of this new army -- which is difficult to do when they disagree on exactly who should be in charge and how best to save their people.

RONIN ISLAND #2 arrives in stores April 2019 and features a main cover by Milonogiannis, along with variant covers by acclaimed artists Ethan Young (Tails) and Kris Anka (Runaways).

“The horrifying toll of a mutant attack introduces us to the death and destruction that have ravaged the mainland, having finally arrived on the shores of the island haven that Hana and Kenichi call home,” said Cameron Chittock, Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Greg, Giannis, Irma, and Simon do an incredible job of showing us the entire island grappling with the terror of these new threats, and the hard choices that need to be made when they’re stuck between two impossible situations.”

PORTLAND, OR 03/14/2019 — Award winning director/screenwriter Darcy Van Poelgeest and fan-favorite artist Ian Bertram’s highly anticipated Little Bird launched yesterday from Image Comics and is already being rushed back to print to keep up with overwhelming fan enthusiasm for the unique, eye-popping miniseries.Comic shops rallied behind the new series with their early support and yesterday’s debut enjoyed two packed launch signing events—Van Poelgeest making an appearance at Golden Age Collectables in Vancouver and Ian Bertram at Forbidden Planet NYC. Moreover, Little Bird #1 grabbed the spotlight for new comics day and made multiple “Staff Picks” lists at numerous comic shops. Two comic book stores in particular, Challengers Comics + Conversation in Chicagoand All Star Comics in Melbourne, even announced a Little Bird sales battle with high stakes on the line.
Critics raved about Little Bird with Comic Book Resources calling it “addictive” and Nerdist dubbing it, “nothing short of a masterpiece.”

Bertram first burst onto the scene with his haunting, macabre collaboration with Peter J. Tomasi on House of Penance and since then fans have been abuzz to see his next project hit shelves in Little Bird.
With the same limitless scope as a new East of West or Saga—and the drama and surrealism of Akira--Little Bird follows a young resistance fighter in a science-fiction style reminiscent of Alejandro Jodorowsky.
In the world of Little Bird, North America has been devastated by three decades of war as the American Empire expands under an ultra-nationalist, theocratic government. But from the ashes of defeat rises Little Bird, a 12-year old girl who sets out to reignite the Canadian Resistance and discover her own identity in a world on fire.

Little Bird #1, second printing (Diamond Code JAN198548) will be available on Wednesday, April 10. The final order cutoff deadline for comics shop retailers is Monday, March 18.
Little Bird #2 (Diamond Code FEB190164) will be available on Wednesday, April 17. The final order cutoff deadline for comic shop retailers is Monday, March 25.

Select praise for Little Bird:

“Brims with excellent artwork.” --The Daily Californian
“Little Bird is nothing short of a masterpiece and we're only one issue in. We realize how insane that sounds, but once you read this thing you'll see what we mean.” --Nerdist
“There's a lot to unpack in this story for a first issue though, so it might require a second pass, but that's hardly a downside considering how easy it is to become immersed in Little Bird's world.” --ComicBook.com
“A powerful and thought-provoking first issue. The story is clever and well-rounded and the art is lovely in a surrealistic way. I highly recommend this series.” --Impulse Gamer
“Dark, surreal, and addictive.” --Comic Book Resources
