Alright so this issue has a dream team behind it and I have one thing to say, no not RuPaul’s you’d better work, I now want me an Ace Duckman, teenage heartthrob, limited series by these guys! Who would have thought i’d fall madly for an anthropomorphic duck man who has angel wings? I mean he’s everything that you could want in a character and so much more, that bad boy reputation and image but inside beats a heart of gold kind of thing. Yeah y’all really took this to a whole new level for me.
I’ve said it before I love the whole science-fiction aspect of this story and it’s been one great adventure after another. So to see yet another planet as imagined by another creative team that makes up Dimension X is far and away one of the best ideas. Ryan takes full advantage of it too as we see that once again getting the person to testify isn’t going to be easy for the gang and not to mention they’ve still got their hunter on their trail. Still I thoroughly enjoyed the way that Ryan pulled everything together here and made this my single favourite issue of the series.
Chris and Mark get to shine here as well as they get to take this world and bring it to life for us. There’s some great tongue in cheek moments for us but some absolutely stunners as well. The Ace reveal alone was well worth the price of admission alone! The boys look great too and the musculature we see in them and how both innocent and not so much the tend to look at times is incredible to witness. Plus the imagination and creativity on display here with all the aliens that we see is really impressive.
The story development, structure and pacing here are close to immaculately done. You can definitely tell Ryan had a lot of fun writing this one. The flow of the book is excellent and the overall feel you get from it has everything you could ever hope to want from not just the Turtles but from every character we see and meet as well.
There are a slew of bounty hunters and a whole reason why Ace is wanted and I gotta say I think Ryan should be allowed to tell that story. I know i’d be up for it no questions asked, what say you? Oh yeah even if you are just a casual TMNT fan this is one of those limited series you need to be reading, just the sheer uniqueness of each issue will entertain and thrill you.
