TIME FOR THE SEMI-FINALS! JINX FACES OFF AGAINST THE RIDICULOUS RUFUS AND GUILE PREPARES TO TAKE REVENGE AGAINST M. BISON FOR CAMMY’S INJURIES!
Oh my stars and garters how i’m enjoying this series! Aubrey hasn’t really gone and even remotely gotten to what Bison’s plan is and ya know what if we get it before the final issue I may just be disappointed. I mean i’m intrigued, hooked to what’s happening and while I want to know i’m enjoying the anticipation because of these awesomely crafted fight scenes. I think it’s brilliant that they have that Capcom game feel to them and the homage in the wording couldn’t nail any better.
By the way this month’s amazing cover by Phil Jimenez took my breath away! I mean seriously how bada$$ does everyone look? Sigh
I’ll be the first to admit i’m not up to date on my Street Fighter characters and this Rufus character and his girlfriend Candy opened up this issue with some wonderful laughs for me. The characterization is so good and you can see the confidence that Rufus has and nothing will stand in the way of how he thinks about himself. It’s both refreshing and as annoying as the man himself so yeah I think it’s one of those moments that will always be remembered if and when see the character again, anywhere.
Jinx on the other hand now has her hand in both worlds as a student of Ryu’s and her association with the Joe’s. This opens up the world of possibilities for future story arcs in my opinion. Since Aubrey has done such an incredible job with this one I for one hope that sometime in the not too distant future we’ll get another one. Who knew these two franchises were so darned good together?
Now M. Bison and Guile’s match that was pretty interesting for a number of reasons. Guile was trying to take out the machine that upped Bison’s power. I get that and then there’s Cammie who desperately wanted him to avenge her match with Bison. The twists in this were nice and we also are reminded that Guile is an agent and follows orders first and foremost much to his companions or allies chagrin. Also he had to lose I mean Bison has to go the finals so we can finally understand his and Destro’s super secret plans.
This sets up next issues match between Bison and Jinx. Don’t count the Joe’s out though I mean we’ve seen some interesting things happen, seemingly on purpose as they’ve been holding back watching, waiting and gathering intel for whatever the pair of men are up to. With two issues left the actions only going to heat up from here!
Emilio, Andrea and David work really well together this issue on the interiors. Pretty seamless transition between Emilio and Andrea’s pages so you have to read the credits to realize they each had a set of pages to do. The flow of this book, and series, has been darn near perfect since day one and it continues here. So much of this reminds the reader of both watching cartoons and playing an arcade game and the sentimentality for that is priceless.
IDW continues to pave the way for teaming up franchises so that readers get the best possible experience.
