Danielle is well outside of the law now as she and Tolvo head to where Conrad is believed to be.
I don’t know what’s going on this week but I have to say that i’m reading more things that surprise the heck out of me with the direction they are taking and this is another one of them. Last issue Danielle met with Tolvo in a church only to have the Cartel show up as if someone set them up. Either that or one or both of them are being followed.
Right off the bat Rojas, who saw Tolvo’s cigarette butt, knows they are in the church hiding. His dialogue is really unexpectedly interesting. There’s no reason for Rojas to lie here from what I see he’s telling the truth. His organization and business is being destroyed at the hands of Conrad and once he was a great man but has seemingly descended into madness and they want him to taken out of the picture. It’s Tolvo’s motives that are suspect and have been since they met.
By the way when Rojas and his men are shooting up the church and chasing after them using Spanish without translation is one heck of a smart touch. While not everyone will understand the words the meaning is quite clear. Also I like that it helps me with my own understanding of Spanish, it’s always nice to keep sharp and find the greatest unexpected places to keep myself up to date.
Also the interiors here are utterly fantastic. The whole thing under the floors of the church were perfectly rendered even the light streaming in from the myriad of bullet holes. Then the way that the book flows is great as the use of panels through angles and perspective is really nice to witness. Of course the journey that takes us on to where the book ends well that’s just out of this world craziness. I mean wow that’s some very impactful, powerful imagery that I may not get out of mind for some time to come.
I can’t talk about the twists and turns that the story takes here. It would ruin the experience of actually reading yourself and I don’t want to do that. Just understand that when you come into this pay attention to what’s said and where the story where it’s going as the pages are turned. It’s going to take you by surprise at the revelations and realisations. I’m thrilled beyond belief by what Jordan is doing with this and it’s absolute stark and unnerving in the best ways possible.
Expect the unexpected and enjoy the hell out of this because it’s going to rule your week.
