Indianapolis, IN – April 13, 2016 – The Indy PopCon pop culture convention has selected Operation Supply Drop as its title charity partner for the PopCon 2016 show, held June 17 – 19, 2016 in the Indiana Convention Center. Operation Supply Drop (OSD) serves service members by collecting donations of video games, game systems and other geek culture entertainment items - shipping them overseas to troops on active deployments and to military medical and transition facilities. At this year’s PopCon, the Indiana Convention Center will become a donation collection site for fans wishing to donate to troops, and PopCon will partner with OSD to provide VIP experiences for select wounded veterans.
“We love the mission of Operation Supply Drop as it seeks to provide a little slice of home to troops on active deployment, and it helps bring them the fun experiences they often miss while deployed,” said Shawn Smith, Communications Director of Indy PopCon. “It’s a great way to connect our fans with our military service men and women and remind them that they’re often fun-loving geeks and gamers themselves.”
“Indy PopCon is a great event, and we’re excited that they’re willing to help us extend our mission of support for active duty and veteran service members,” said Glenn Barton, CEO of Operation Supply Drop. “PopCon does a great job of showcasing gaming culture and their level of care for the military. We can’t wait to share some of the great VIP experiences they have lined up at the show with several deserving, wounded veterans”
Family Time Games will be the official collection point beginning April 11, 2016 and running through June 15th. “I am excited to be a part of providing support for those serving,” said Shane Priddy, Owner of Family Time Games. “As a 10 year Navy Veteran, I understand the importance of the mission of Operation Supply Drop”. There will also be collection points at Gate Ten Events and Parking during the show as well as inside the Indy PopCon show itself.
Indy PopCon will have several collection points positioned throughout the show to allow fans to bring items for donation. Operation Supply Drop will collect charitable donations of video games, board games, comic books, as well as cash donations for the duration of the show.
