First, dive into the secret origins of Boss Moon, the brand new character who made her first appearance in Greg Pak and Dan McDaid’s Firefly #2. This special origin story reveals how the relentless Unificator was recruited by the Alliance to hunt down Captain Malcolm Reynolds and Zoë Alleyne Washburne, written by Fireflyseries writer Greg Pak (Ronin Island, Mech Cadet Yu) and illustrated by Ethan Young (Ronin Island).

Created by Whedon and set 500 years in the future in the wake of a universal civil war, Firefly centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship that doesn't have a planet to call home. Mal Reynolds, a defeated soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the totalitarian Alliance, will undertake any job — legal or not — to stay afloat and keep his crew fed. Thrust together by necessity but staying together out of loyalty, these disparate men and women are seeking adventure and the good life, but face constant challenges on the new frontier, such as avoiding capture by the Alliance, and evading the dangers you find on the fringes of the universe.

In the second exclusive story, it’s the beginning of Buffy vs. Angel as the Slayer makes a surprise visit to Anya’s magical emporium in search of an extremely rare and dangerous item that might be the solution to fixing an impossible problem. But she’s got competition, and fans will have to pick up this special issue to find out what happens when the Slayer, vampires, and the magic of cursed souls all converge on the same place in this hit reimagining of the cult television sensations. Buffy The Vampire Slayer premiered on the WB Network on March 10th, 1997. This Saturday is Free Comic Book Day across North America and the world – a day where participating comic shops give away comic books to anyone coming into their stores.

Archie Comics, a Gold Sponsor of the event, will be offering FCBD 2019 RIVERDALE SEASON 3 SPECIAL, featuring an all-new ten page story set in the world of The CW's hit Riverdale TV show!

CREATOR OF THANOS DESCENDS UPON BUFFALO FOR FCBD!

Jim Starlin, Creator of Thanos, Appears for Signing and Screening
While Thanos battles Captain American, Iron Man, Thor, and the rest of the Avengers for the fate of the universe in “Avengers: Endgame,” the famed creator of Thanos, Jim Starlin, will appear in the Buffalo area, courtesy of Sleeping Giant Collectibles, Ominous Press, and Creation.Ink, on Saturday, May 4.

Legendary comics writer-artist Jim Starlin, who created Thanos, Drax, Gamora, the Infinity Gauntlet, and many more, will be doing a Free Comic Book Day signing on May 4 at the Tonawanda shared headquarters of Creation.Ink, Sleeping Giant Collectibles, and Ominous Press. The FCBD event with Jim Starlin will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 80 Clinton St. in Tonawanda, NY.

Starlin will also appear at a special screening of “Avengers: Endgame” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at Buffalo’s historic North Park Theatre, 1428 Hertel Ave. Buffalo, NY 14216. Starlin will introduce the film, and hold a Q & A session after the screening. An exclusive Thanos poster featuring Jim Starlin’s art will be available at the screening. Starlin’s many comic credits include Batman, Warlock, Silver Surfer, Death of Captain Marvel, Dreadstar, Infinity Gauntlet, and his tales featuring Thanos, the Mad Titan. Much of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe is drawn from Starlin’s work.

The FCBD signing will also feature renowned comic writer Ron Marz, whose credits include Silver Surfer, Green Lantern, Witchblade, and many more. Starlin helped launch Marz’s career, and now they will be paired for this special signing event. Other FCBD guests will be announced. Attendees can expect to receive free comic books as part of the festivities.
