Dead Dogs Bite from Dark Horse Comics

Kang The Conqueror from Marvel Comics

Written by Collin Kelly & Jackson Lanzing
Art by Carlos Magno
The time traveler called Kang the Conqueror has led many lives across many eras. He has been a pharaoh, a villain and a warlord of the spaceways - even, on rare occasions, a hero. Across all timelines, one fact seemed absolute: Time means nothing to Kang. But the truth about the Conqueror is much more complex! Kang is caught in an endless cycle of creation and destruction, dictated by time and previously unseen by any but the Conqueror himself. A cycle that, once revealed, could finally explain the enigma that is Kang. It begins and ends with an old and broken Kang sending his younger self down a dark path. But is there any hope that he can change the tragic fate of his great love, Ravonna Renslayer, and find his way to a better future?

The Lot from Bad Idea
Written by Marguerite Bennett
Illustrated by Renato Guedes
Synopsis: In the 1970s, legendary filmmaker Oliver Larsen began production on what was to be his horror masterpiece. Obsessed with authenticity, the megalomaniacal director insisted on filming a real-life occult ritual performed by actual cult members. The cast and crew, of course, gave no credence to the cultists' beliefs but soon were proselytise as something awoke that day on the studio lot. In the bloody aftermath, the production was permanently shut down, the footage suppressed, and the soundstage that bore witness forever shuttered. Until today. Aviva Copeland is the newly promoted studio head -- the youngest in decades. Great things are expected of her. Maybe greater than is fair. She has the unenviable task of restoring the studio's fading image and resurrecting its financial viability. She's up for the challenge. Pouring over the sea of red in the company ledger she finds just the thing to help her do it -- a prime piece of California real estate has been sitting unused on the studio books, hemorrhaging money for decades. Why would they let a lot this valuable just rot? Aviva will soon find her answer and with it she will discover that though the lot may have been closed for a half-century, it’s far from empty…and the evil that lives within its haunted walls will soon seize its chance to kill again.

Red Room: The Antisocial Network from Fantagraphics

By Ed Piskor
This series is rated Adults Only
DISCLAIMER: gore sadistic violence
Aided by the anonymous dark web and nearly untraceable cryptocurrency, a criminal subculture has emerged. It livestreams murders as entertainment. Who are the killers? Who are the victims? Who is paying to watch? How to stop it? Red Room is constructed as a series of interconnected stories, shining a light on the characters who exist in the ugliest of corners in cyberspace. Piskor cuts the graphic horror with his sharp sense of humor, gorgeous cartooning, and dynamic storytelling. Red Room peels back the curtain on the side of humanity few of us knew existed, let alone understood.

It’s December and it’s time for those End of Year Lists.  This year I’ve decided to do something a bit differently and I’m starting off with my Top 5 Ongoing Limited Series.  These are limited series that come out regularly and I believe these are the best of those books that have been out this past year.  I won’t be ranking them, instead I’ll be listing them alphabetically.

When slavers damage her clock beyond repair, Canto embarks on an incredible journey through his strange and fantastic world to bring back her heart. Hailed as a “truly entertaining and striking modern fairy tale” (Newsarama) and a “beautiful and heartfelt story about love and heroism” (The Brazen Bull), Canto is an all-ages adventure for past and present generations alike. Inspired by The Wizard of Oz and Dante’s Inferno. Part fantasy. Part adventure. All heart.
