With their city under siege by an army of supervillains, only Nocturnus and Galahad can save the lives of millions–and they have no resources, no weapons, nothing but one another to depend on!
I really do enjoy the writing of this series. This is the final arc of the run however so however this ends i’m kind of hoping that father and son will be able to work something out and at least not hate each other. Their dialogue and very different way of looking at life and fighting crime couldn’t be any more prevalent nor could it cause any more friction. Still their relationship at its core is the basis for what these two go through. This arc it seems the stakes have never been higher and it’s going to make them both do things they might not agree with.
The city has been captured and it’s under siege as we open up with the news crew that Meg was with. I love that as a news team they are trying to be brave as they hide in the shadows and report on what’s happening amidst all the carnage and destruction. When Mark is on he’s one of the absolute best when it comes to dialogue and characterisation and this is him being ON! I feel like I know these folks and why they do what they are doing and not all of it comes across as altruistic.
There’s something fun about two people who pretty much hate each other having to rely upon each other, to work together, have each others backs and get the job done. The tension, friction and their past history plus familial relationship make this all the more interesting to see as some parts unfold. How the pair are able to gather the supplies they need yeah i’d think that if the circumstances surrounding that were different there wouldn’t be an issue but as it stands pragmatism overrules.
Peter’s interiors here are fantastic. His use of page layouts with angles, perspective and backgrounds here are so well done. They really do help the flow of the story run smoothly throughout the issue. The attention to detail and their facial expressions plus body language really help tell more of the story.
Will this extreme adventure of saving the city from a cadre of villains bring them closer together or tear them further apart remains to be seen. In the meantime i’m going to sit back, relax and enjoy this over the top action packed thriller. The way the story unfolds, its pacing and how it’s presented is enough for me to really enjoy this regardless of the ultimate outcome.
