After an attack that he didn’t smell coming, Logan is now on the run from an enemy that he has no way of detecting--adamantium cyborgs with razor-sharp claws, the likes of which he’s only ever seen on his longtime enemy Lady Deathstrike. Backed into a corner Logan approaches another victim of the Weapon X program for help, The Savage Sabretooth!
Surprisingly i’m enjoying this a hell of a lot more than ever thought I would. Forget the Island of Misfit Toys even though they all fit there this is so much more intriguing and dangerous. I mean c’mon each one of these people being targeted by the new Weapon X program are being done so for a reason and we’re beginning to see what they are. Also that they’ve got mad skills when it comes to crossing the mechanical/human elements into functioning cyborgs well that’s just even better. Not sure of Greg’s the mind behind this idea but it should be commended because dang this is what it’s about.
Now I wouldn’t call this getting back to basics by any stretch of the imagination unless the base is still in Canada and we’re going to see a re-introduction of Alpha Flight. Also this is Old Man Logan, not sure what that means entirely but still, regardless of what Earth he comes from he’s a product of the original Weapon X. So that ties him to Sabretooth, though if he’s a different reality guy why does he have enemies on this one already established? I mean unless it’s revealed that in his original reality Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike were bitter enemies how does that automatically translate here if technically he isn’t the same person. Oy Vey this is why I think Marvel should stop the Mishegas with all these alternate reality people on this Earth.
I’m going out on a limb here and say that Ibraim did the opening artwork with Warpath. Actually it looks pretty similar to Greg and Jay’s work so that’s a nice bonus. The whole issue does have a great flow and the way page layouts are utilised with their angles, perspective and even the backgrounds really work well. Plus that moment we see the cyborgs regrow their skin yeah that part blew me the eff away! The attention to detail here is phenomenal to see and it really makes a huge impact here. From the folks at Weapon X to the main cast of characters everyone and everything has the best possible look being put forth.
Now i’m not sure if this is supposed to be a finite series or a true ongoing but I can see how it’s easily a finite one. Get this group together and stop the new Weapon X program. Easier said than done though considering how many times it seems to come back. Still this latest endeavor seems to have been in place for quite some time and is rather more effective than we’ve ever seen before. In any of Marvel’s secret organisations too mind you because what they’ve accomplished off the radar and now onto it is superb.
Keep this series what it is and should be, this cast of characters going after Weapon X program and keep the crossovers with other heroes and villains out of it along with those stupid Marvel Events that never seem to go away and i’ll continue to support this series.
