INSPECTOR DAVITIKA DEAL and her Hazeltyne-built Vigilant sentries tracked the stolen Formulary to the dusty moisture farm belonging to former sanctioned climatologist, DR. AUGUST REASONS—aka the dreaded WHITE WIZARD! Proprietary secrets and patented technology stolen from Hazeltyne years ago—the means to make it snow again in a world where this no longer happens naturally—were to be retrieved from his secret lair and returned to the Cooperative. Only Davitika could never have imagined where he’d hidden the formula away…
There was all kinds of crazy madness happening this issue and ya know what it was awesome! The inspector was accessing memories that aren’t hers and it got really weird really quick but somehow like a trainwreck you just can’t turn away.
The way this story moves is kind of fast and odd but in a good way. Davitika is apparently seeing things from Dr. Reasons mind and point of view. This leads to her kind of beating the heck out of Anthony. I have no idea what kind of person she is or if she’s a partial construct or what be this chick is balls to the wall bat-doodoo crazy right now. The great part of it all is that Anthony knows she’s seeing the little girl too.
I can’t believe that this issue, it’s only number three for crying out loud, has gone and flipped everything on it’s rear end and changed things in ways you could never anticipate. That Joe has so fully gone and snow stormed us this way is utterly amazing and quite honestly makes me even more excited for what’s to come next. I mean c’mon if this happened here then who knows what else he has in store and that thought alone is more exciting than snow on Christmas Day.
Anthony is caught up between two forces and neither of them know or trust him. So what is a boy in that situation supposed to do? Well you have to read this to find out but i’m seriously impressed with his role in all this. Whom does he trust and what about the girl he’s been seeing, the one that Davitika herself has seen? Then the good Dr. and the Inspector have a nice little showdown or at least one starts and wow this dude and what he can do even if he’s just loco as she is at this point i’m at the edge of my seat with this.
Then there’s what Martin and Kelly do with the interiors. It feels like a complete science fiction story with all the crazy soldiers, gadgets and weird weather fluctuating all over the place. I mean they take us to a place with what they do that you just access from the words alone. The keep this unique and beautiful style of art/illustration throughout the issue giving the reader an added bonus to the seat of your pants craziness that’s going on. The story flows in flawlessly and the sheer amount of emotion you feel makes it that much more impressive.
This is not going to be anything you can come into with preconceived notions. What it will do to your mind however that’s a guaranteed mess.
