“TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART,” Part Three
Led by the mighty-yet-sneaky Fer Doirich, Becky begins a magical mystery tour through New York’s secrets, looking for answers—and possibly new allies.
The more I see the more I am intrigued by this series. I am not exactly sure how many different mythologies are actually in play here but I love it. It doesn't look like this isn't going to stop being so important and I that thrills me to no end. Marco does such a magnificent job here with this and how he is able to relate the story in such a way that keeps Becky in the forefront and yet still explores and expands this world. The introduction of the characters was brilliantly done and this issue we see just how the Guardian get fleshed out even more this issue. We've had a lot thrown at us lately and it's finally time that we are starting to get a closer look at the players in the game.
I also have this craving to see ore of our hairy gay friend because yeah that I fancy like you wouldn't believe so thank Jacopo. Seriously though I have to say that the way this issue flows with hall the information we are given through the way the Guardian speaks feels like a lot of Fey speak. Fer is an interesting man with an interesting name and it takes my mind off-script and makes me think of all the mythology I know of, and I gotta it's a lot, and who he could possibly represent. It's engaging and I like that plus it gets the reader much more invested in the book when that happens.
The way this is being told is utterly fabulous. The story & plot development here is fantastic and how we see the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is so well done. The way that this story seems to twists and turn like no one's business is utterly marvellous. The character development here is phenomenal a near full issue conversational issue that says so much without revealing so little. The way we see all this and the ebb & flow is beyond what I what expecting and while it is so calming, lovely and as if spending a sun drenched river on a summer's day. It is sweet and romantic and full of this odd beautiful imagery and story.
The interiors here are so pretty. The linework has a delicacy to it and yet a huge strength to it as well much like a spiders silk, pretty to look at and near unbreakable. The way we see the attention to detail being brought out here is beyond expectation and I have to say the difference between the black and white and colour is stupendous. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show this amazing eye for storytelling. The composition inside the panels and the way the innovation we see is divine and the depth perception, the sense of scale, size and scope is so well rendered.
I really like this book and while I don't really have much more than a clue of what is going on here I do know I find it gripping, fascinating and full of double meanings and a purity that just doesn't come along every day. With more new characters being introduced we need a scorecard, preferably on the inside the front cover. Though now with that last proclamation I cannot wait till the next issue hits stands!
