Let me just say as much as I like this 5 issues in 8 months isn’t okay. I understand setbacks and things happen but wow this kind of thing makes people lose interest, or forget what’s happened and then go meh i’m not gonna keep going plus it also makes me think that this will be an ongoing problem with the series. I had a little trouble getting back into this issue trying to remember where things left off and how I felt and a 3 month absence well I almost skipped this.
As it is I’m not sure the interest level is back for me yet either. I felt lost and confused at times with the story. Marisel is in a hospital and her brother is off with the children whom i’m assuming he was planning on killing till she reminds him how he can rescue them and turn this into his advantage. Then she goes on to say how she’s the brains of his operation so now i’m more confused about her and role than ever. Quite honestly i’m not sure I even wanna know but it seems like she’s tried to get away from him and just can’t.
So not all the kids were together. Deshawn and Tiffani are climbing back up to the highway. Well she manages to get up there and then when people do finally stop it becomes this whole oh she climbed maybe there’s more to her than meets the eye let’s get her drunk and take turns having sex with her. I’m not sure where that potential rape scene came from but for some reason it kind of bothered me.
Meanwhile Travis and Gina are together and we’re learning truths about them and their upbringings. Travis is spoiled rich kid it would seem and Gina’s pissed. But hey he leaves her by the morning and she has her own unique experience that’s none too pleasant.
This just didn’t have the same impact for me that I was expecting. A few things are incredibly intriguing like Sister Inez, brother showing up and trying to take charge. The kids being scattered instead of all together so finding and reuniting them will become a task. But that potential rape scene still bugs me. Travis taking off i’m on the fence about, after all they’ve been through to just abandon her like that seems odd. Overall everything just felt disoriented and jumbled for some reason.
Maybe in a few issues i’ll get back that feeling I had to begin with, maybe I won’t we’ll see. Here’s hoping it isn’t another three months till the next issue.
