The Kims return home to find the very same messes they left behind -- and a bunch more they brought back with them. Unable to make rent after their recent adventure, the Kims take an easy bounty to make some quick cash. But nothing's ever easy.
Okay forget the fact that the girls are intergalactic bounty hunters for a moment because this is all kinds of fun and relatable to. How you might ask? Well I’m glad you asked, let me tell you why. It’s because the girls no matter how hard they try it seems they are always down on their luck. They have a hard time making ends meet and ask their parents for money to pay their rent and have too many folks looking out for them that they aren’t even aware of. Sounds like a ton of Millennials to me, well heck to be fair plenty of 40 somethings as well.
For me it’s like a comedy of errors as if Laverne & Shirley were crossed with Lucy & Ethel. It’s outrageously funny and completely silly at times. I mean after facing down a robot in their apartment, which they are behind on their rent on, they take on a job for some quick cash only to have that run into trouble because the boys are following them trying to make sure they are okay alerting the subject he’s being hunted.
Eva and Claudia do some great work with the visuals here. I love the opening with Saar in his tank and briefs looking all hot after getting out of bed. Then moving onto the girls and calling mom yeah it’s just this whole emotional spectrum being provided visually through facial expressions and body language. The flow of the story through its angles, perspective and use of backgrounds are extremely effective. Plus the big bad this issue yeah I love how that’s portrayed as if Gorilla Grodd and Bane had a love child that needed bionic parts.
Sometimes you just want to laugh and have a good time and the girls definitely nail this with this series. A constant comedy of errors where it seems like nothing is ever going to go their way and yet somehow they manage to maintain that outlook on life and be true to themselves. Sure it’s craziness at it’s finest but that’s just what we need for a quick getaway into sheer fun!
The story development and characterisation here continues to show us that women in comics know exactly what they are doing and can do it as well as any man can. Plus with these two strong female leads that can go toe to toe with the comedic duo of Blue & Gold well it just proves there’s something out there for everyone.
Will the girls ever find a job they are extremely good and adept at? I doubt it but so long as they continue to entertain me along the way i’m going to keep the girls in my heart.
