I love finding something fresh, new and different that excites me. This is one of those as Mat and JD are bringing us something that you don’t expect. I mean just the fact that last issue we saw Banning can do things that normal people can’t do and get sucked up in the whole hippie march on Washington peace stuff that will forever change him is well kind of awesome. So when we get to the White House and everything goes down well we pick up there.
It would seem that the leader of this hippie movement orchestrated this event and had it happily coincided with Banning’s arrival in town. Hmm interesting to say the least and since he knows way more than he should and with what’s revealed here it’s safe to say that oh poor little Banning is being used, manipulated as well watched, saved repeatedly and who knows what else.
So before Banning got to Washington on his way north he started off in Orlando Florida where he tries to talk to his friend/co-worker/boss i’m not really what he really is other than apparently a trusted confidant who betrays him in the end. Well it is 1967 after all and what he can do well yeah that’s even more amazing than the fact that Segregation and Racial problems still prevail. Though what happens when Banning runs off, hides and witness’ what happens well that’s something else entirely and suddenly Les Cordes is a thing.
So then we go a step further as we learn that Les Cordes is an age-old secret order responsible for keeping the world's nations in check. Currently the organization feels like the United States has gotten too big for their britches and well let’s say I don’t disagree, the U.S. has long been the playground bully in my opinion more obsessed with telling others how to live without really taking care of their own backyard. So what is unleashed well that’s a bit of stretch for me to believe but oh the implications are wonderful, marvelous and truly inspiring.
So Banning and his “friends” are on the run and they’ve got someone covering his ass anyway so is it going to be up to them to stop the madness or let things play out as they are with Les Cordes itself going unchecked. Conspiracy theories, secret organizations, hippies, the boy who could do wondrous things yeppers this one has it all!
JD and Paul’s work on the interiors is pretty sweet as well. Though it does have that all ages look and feel to it don’t be fooled there’s a bit of action that is well not intended for everyone. Granted we don’t really see blood and guts but when Banning’s friend is shot yeah that’s kind of bad and then the dead bodies on the White House lawn all of these things kind say not all-ages to me. Thankfully too because i’m enjoying the heck outta this. Plus that they guys make Banning look like some geeky lil guy with no visible backbone while other characters get a more confident look to em is great.
Action Lab is home to some great Entertainment and this one yeah it’s something you should be reading.
