Welcome to the Grimm Universe, where both dreams and nightmares come true. In this special over-sized issue, you will meet Skye Mathers, the new Guardian of the Nexus... Van Helsing, the greatest vampire hunter of all time... Robyn Hood, the protector of New York... Death Force, the vengeance-fueled vigilante... and the last standing monarch of Wonderland, the fallen realm of dreams.
These are four vignettes that showcase the future of the franchise and their main characters. It’s a great chance for someone who isn’t that familiar with the characters to jump on board and take a sneak peek at what’s coming in the next year. If you think you Zenescope think again their titles and characters have gone through a metamorphosis of sorts and become this smart intelligent line of books that delve into both traditional and the darker side of being a hero.
Van Helsing’s story shows us her creative side as she upgrades her gadgets and still going out after things that go bump, or suck, in the night. A new foe is introduced one that is on par with her family nemesis, who by the way she may have finally dispatched for good. With everything she’s been through this is a return to her roots as a vampire hunter. Smart, sassy with great interiors the future for the Vampire Hunter looks promising.
The Robyn Hood segment reads like it’s a Green Arrow story. It’s almost a classic hero story only this is Robyn and she’s not afraid to kill. Lou’s doing some interesting things over in his year long run right now and Riviero’s interiors here are top notch stuff. Robyn is probably the best known now among the titles and as she’s a staple in my reading.
The Wonderland segment is interesting, disturbing and depending on what’s real and what’s a dream, hey it’s Wonderland what’s the difference?, looks like we’ll be visiting the darker side of things again. It’s got promise and that the reality/dream and who we see yeah i’m kind of excited to see what’s new in Wonderland.
Well it looks like Death Force will be a prime mover and shaker coming in the next year. This story looks interesting and we’ll see an expansion of his mission as well as new foes for him to fight. If this creative team will be handling the chores i’m in the creativity and imagination on display is fantastic! Plus his partner in crime is back and the two have great banter/dialogue.
Next year looks to be exciting as adult horror stories continue to evolve and take on new meaning at Zenescope!
