First of all I have to admit I love Simon, he’s one of those guys I can hangout, drink and just have a good time with, so with him on this I was already in. Then add Kevin who is best known for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and well this was going to be seriously good. I mean look up Eastman and see what else he’s done if you don’t know these two make a great fit! Even after reading the issue I was kind of blown away by it and it took me a few minutes to gather my thoughts. Do not go into this if you are easily offended, or think that it will be like anything else they’ve done.
The opening is fantastic. Stumbling out of the desert into this run down old town comes a woman. Mesh bra and panties and that’s it my friends, It’s completely Simon here my friends and it’s definitely eye catching. She passes out most likely from traveling through the desert sun and heat and is found by a few locals who take her to the saloon. Here it’s a bit odd we know what they are going to do that much is obvious but there’s also the writing which makes you take pause. Suddenly this isn’t what it appears to be and yet it’s exactly that.
Does our well endowed, yes she’d Dolly a run for her money, have a name? If so we aren’t gonna learn it anytime soon and ya know what i’m perfectly okay with that. What we do see from her is enough to know you shouldn’t mess with her. Also thanks the writing there really is something else about her we’re not privy to right now. After her initial encounter with some locals she meets another.
An old timer who has lived here all his life. If there’s something odd or off about him well it could be any number of things really but i’m holding judgment because I don’t think i’m right about him. Still he runs the hotel kind of befriends her and finds her some clothing from the lost and found box. He’s an eccentric old bird and her physique isn’t lost on him but it’s like interest from someone ten stages past being able to do anything with it. He kind of has this look of the old mad scientist type and his glasses well they help with that too. God I love the way all this looks visually it’s not politically correct in all the best ways.
So the old man gives her and by extension us a lowdown on the town’s history. Including kind of where the book gets it name from. There is a very important detail he leaves out though and soon enough we kind of see what that is. One of the men from the Saloon yeah he’s back with some friends only he’s here to make a deal. Seems they have some rivals and they’d like her to join up with them hire her if you will to help em out.
Well I’ll admit I love this little old guy and whoever or whatever he ends up being I do hope he’ll sticking around as her unofficial guide/friend. She’s not going anywhere and we’ve seen enough of what she’s seen to know that this place is kind of where she’s supposed to be right now. I look forward to learning why alongside everyone else too.
This was a blast for me. She’s as deadly as she stacked and ya know the way this story is told, perceived by me and definitely delivered it’s one I can appreciate on a lot of levels. Read the afterward for more detailed look in this series, what it’s about and how it came to be from Kevin you’ll be happy ya did.
This remastered edition is perfect for folks like me who missed it the first time around and has added material for those already in the know!
