The Love Savage has a secret history and it’s all revealed here! See how he and Soshama first met and what brought them together. See the story of how Love Savage got is insane outfit, where he comes from and why he was running away in the first place. If all that weren’t enough It’s all revealed in the midst of three different species ships wanting the cargo the boys carry! Well almost all three.
My tastes are definitely changing as I get older because there was once a time where I would never have given this a second look just from the artwork alone. I mean I know there’s a market for this kind of stuff and it does remind me heavily of what you’d find in either old adult magazines or Heavy Metal magazine. It’s got it’s place and people who love it and maybe it’s not as mainstream as it could be but honestly I kind of found it fit the story perfectly.
What Matt does with the story here is fantastic to see. I mean we go from baby focus to Love Savage focus in the blink of an eye. I think the way the change of direction is done is extremely well handled. The fact that it doesn’t disrupt the story at all just gives that “obligatory” flashback about someone so we can understand them better. I love the way that Matt can take something serious, yes space piracy is serious business, not to mention finding a baby as part of your haul, be chased across the galaxy and yet make so damn piss your pants outrageously funny and have it work as well as it does. I mean I laugh throughout the entire book and it’s meant for you to do that. What is life without fun, humour and joy? It’s Donald Trump.
While Andy and T Dang, oh i need to hear why he’s called T Dang cause that’s a horror rapper story or just someone who missed the meaning of Irony (rain on your wedding day), make this as fun as possible. The creativity and imagination on display here is utterly phenomenal to see. These aliens look amazing, their gear and outfits are more truly outrageous than anything Jem and the Misfits can think of and just the overall impression we get from all this is more than you can hope for.
So if the baby weren’t twist enough who could’ve would’ve seen this one coming? Though let’s be honest too with what we learn and who/what and how many genders his cousin has slept with I want to see more of that explored. I mean if their body chemistry or hormone discharge or whatever you want to call it has the claimed effect we need to see more of that and let the freak flag fly!
With the state of the world today we need fun, humorous escape more than ever before. Cosmic Scoundrels have hearts of gold beneath that space piracy exterior and to revel in their misadventures well that’s just a perfect way to spend a day!
