OH my so much is happening this issue as Sameal is fighting to save his family, Brennan is embracing the magic and Rya goes into labor! Oh yeah and without the Lore Mikey’s dying. Even if all this is worked out this just a drop in the bucket of what the bigger picture is being painted as. That excites me as yeah it’s nice to see the family coming together again but then it’s still all about saving Terrenos and well with everything we see here who is to say that Mikey’s still not on that mission?
While Mikey’s out of it it’s really the time for Brennan to shine in the spotlight. With embracing the magic and opening up a new heritage and life for himself, much to Aaron’s chagrin, he’s becoming the big brother he’s always wanted to be. As well as something of a saviour and that’s really nice to see. Amidst all the chaos that is happening Aaron keeps wanting to shelter him and get him out of there and the conversation where Brennan finally stands up to him and tells him what he thinks well that’s some good stuff.
Andrei's interiors is the kind of work i’ll continue to tout about for however long he does them. I mean c’mon the attention to detail is astonishing, that library scene with Mastema well dang it’s on par with when the boys were going through the layers of Sameal’s safehouse. It has such scope and presence and a sense of history that really makes the reader feel small as if they couldn’t dare dream of being a part of something so big. Then there are the characters themselves and it has so much here that you can’t look away from and the faces, bodies and you name it they have this commanding presence.
Oh Enoch has spent too much time on Earth away from Terrenos and forgets what it’s like to have family, love and hope. His actions this issue kind of show us that perhaps the “good guys” are so good and the “bad guy” (Lore) aren’t so bad. I like the complexity in the way the story is unfolding here. It’s pretty high drama and the lines have become so blurred as to who is right and who’s wrong that finding to someone to root for is harder than ever.
Next issue is going to be monumental if the ending here is any indication. I cannot wait for that either.
I’m still waiting for Aaron to find his connection to Terrenos in some form or another. With his father and his sons possessing talents where does Aaron lie in all this? Skipping generations isn’t unusual but this isn’t like having twins or a genetic predisposition this is power from Terrenos. Regardless with how Joshua & Andrei present him the man is a hottie and a loving caring father and that alone is worth his weight in gold.
Every time you think this is series is heading in one particular direction Joshua takes it even further than you could’ve hoped for. Simple doesn’t seem to be in the vocabulary here and for that i’m grateful.
