Executive Assistant Iris vol.5 #1
Aspen Comics/Blockade Entertainment 2018
Written by Blake NorthcottIllustrated by Donny Tran

When a routine security job takes a turn for the worse, Executive Assistant Iris realizes she might be at the crossroads of her career! The world’s deadliest assassin is faced with a choice: remain a freelance Executive Assistant, or join Magni Global—a mysterious corporation that has acquired nearly every private security firm on the planet. But, what fateful decisions may come from joining a giant conglomerate whose interests may spell doom for her?

First of all this is the franchise is celebrating it’s ten year anniversary! So with that being said I urge try this issue because not only is a great companion to what’s already come before but it is so completely new reader. You can walk right into this and be like this kick-ass stuff and honestly it really because Iris is a lot like a mixture of Jason Bourne and Mission Impossible with a lot more style, sophistication and class. This is an action packed thriller with and excellent story behind it.

The way this is structured is extremely well done and the opening is a great example of starting off with a bang. It is this smooth and easy way of getting to see Iris in action and allow the reader to understand a bit about her. I like everything about this from the dialogue and how we see her “client” it just has the aloof professionalism about it that is both detached and intriguing. I got a real kick out of all it how it was presented. Personalities shining through like this is what separates the strong from the weak.

When we hit the next scene in this issue we get the beginnings for understanding some of how things in this world work. It has that essential to the plot feeling about it and it creates not only a somewhat of a dilemma and a reason for Iris to become involved. The whole progression of the story is so well executed. I get why this gentleman feels like he needs protection, thought he does come across like the kind arrogant blowhard so often found in the Texas area or in politicians. Still his ego aside it’s a nice plot point and one that almost makes you do a double take. In one regard it feels natural on the other you question if it is a set-up, it’s an interesting conundrum.

I really the interior artwork here as it feels like the linework is so nicely manipulated and the attention to detail in what we see comes across so well. The utilisation of page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows a solid eye for storytelling. There are a few wonky moments like seeing the scientist head titled at an odd angle, like his neck’s been snapped but still he’s an illustrator worth keeping an eye on. Plus he isn’t totally shying away from how we see him utilise backgrounds and that is wonderful in my opinion.

When we meet Alexander Magni III, head of Magni Corp who personally gives Iris a tour of the building well it’s then you really start to wonder if he’s a helper, saviour or a monster? Still he has the most impressive of toys and inventions because of everything that has achieved to date but at what cost is the real question. Though there is a moment that solidifies this franchise into the whole unified Aspen Universe. The ending here is superb and while not a cliffhanger ending it is the most exciting and intriguing of one as far as story potential goes.

This is a strong book with a very good solid and interesting female lead and I look forward to seeing where they are going to take this.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Urban Legends #1

Written by Gary Carlson
Illustrated by Frank Fosco

This is it, fans! You demanded it, and IDW Publishing listened! The entire Image Comics TMNT run (a.k.a TMNT Volume 3) reproduced for the first time ever in full, four-color glory! Join creators Gary Carlson and Frank Fosco as they take the Heroes in a Half-Shell on some of their most amazing and dangerous and bizarre adventures ever… culminating in three brand-new issues by Carlson and Fosco to properly close out this long-beloved storyline at last! In this premiere issue, the TMNT and Master Splinter are attacked in their lair by a group of cyborgs led by the female ninja called Pimiko. Before the attack is over, one family member will fall… and one will be lost!

Alright so I starting reading this today and I honestly had no idea it was a reprinting or reproduction of the Image books and I thought dag nabbit IDW is trying their hardest to make me a TMNT fan. Because I really like this there’s something about the way the interior artwork looks that captured my mind and imagination and the story itself and the dialogue were gosh darn perfect. Now with this newfound knowledge it’s easy to see why the Turtles have a solid and devoted fan base. I am in for this and I may just end up as one those hardcore fans.

The way that this book is structured is magnificent! First page and wham you in on the action and your eyes in shock and okay what the heck is going on here? It is the perfect example of what an opening splash should be. It is dramatic powerful and attention grabbing I wholeheartedly support the idea of the newer artists of today to check this and see what that first page is supposed to be. I like the idea of a first issue just jumping into the action without that much backstory just throw us into the mix and let it go.

The way the story progresses is incredibly well done as we see these Cyborgs attacking the Turtles. The dialogue and banter give us all we need to know about these folks personalities. I find it greatly ironic to hear a Cyborg call them Freaks considering what they’ve allowed themselves to become. Also not so ironically it still feels extremely relevant to what is happening in the world today. So not that surprising I thought initially this was a brand new run. That the writing can stand the test of time the way that it does is astonishing to me. You don’t see this level of work these days so that twenty years from now a book will still feel like it’s relevant today.

The interior artwork also stands the test of time. When people say it’s not what it used to be this is the kind of stuff they are referring to. Yes I realise that with new artists and perspective we get new styles but that doesn’t mean they should embraced for that and it’s up to the individual to have that final decision. For me the way the page layouts are utilised and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows such a great eye for storytelling. The attention to detail and the manipulation of the linework is beautiful stuff that may be 90’s influenced but it has a more streamlined and pleasing ascetic to it.

This is utterly sensational and it’s perfect for now, for new readers to find the franchise and fall in love with it. This is why we call certain books classics because regardless of when you read it it still holds relevancy.

Hellicious #1 Advance Review
SBI Press 2018
On Sale July 25th 2018
Written by A.C. Medina & Mina Elwell
Illustrated by Kit Wallis & Jio Butler
Lettered by Micah Myer

Well I have to give huge thanks to Mina for sending me this and asking me to do an advance review. Building these kind of relationships with creators and the work they do inspires me every day to keep doing what I am doing, so thank you guys very much for trusting me, and those of you who read these.

Cherry, the Devil's prankster granddaughter and the cutest grim reaper in Hell, is honestly just trying to have fun and make new friends. She just keeps getting derailed by the fact that human beings are flammable. She loves everything about Hell - its burning landscapes, its horrific inhabitants, and especially her demonic mother and grandfather - but she's lonely. There's nobody to play with, and anyone who tries ends up defenestrated, digested, or otherwise destroyed. There's only one mortal who Cherry thinks might survive her friendship: rock star and goth icon Briggy Bundy. The bad news is, he isn't dead...Yet. It's Kim Reaper meets Calvin and Hobbes meets Dante's Inferno!

I thought at first I was looking at something styled to match Scottie Young but it’s not and surprisingly at least to me this is something that grew me incredibly quick because while it comes off a this cute little girl that she’s completely not. There is an edge to it and there is a whimsy and humour that is both subtle and bold and if you pay attention you’ll see this little treats. There is something amazing about the contradiction that just captures the imagination of the reader. All the way through they get the interiors to a point where your smiling, giggling and rooting for more of what we’re seeing and that aspect is one of things I love the most.

Cherry is one of the most mischievous and devilish children you’ll ever meet and right off the bat you kind of understand her. Then when we meet her family and the introduction to this world makes you like her even more. It isn’t every day that we meet a character like Cherry who doesn’t just come into our lives and we say aww. No she comes in like wrecking ball and we’re instantly in love with her. A.C. and Mina make this what it is with the structure of the book from start to finish the ebb & flow of the story is beautifully done.

I really like how we see things unfold it feels so natural to me. It feels like a day in the life of Cherry and living where she does and what family she belongs to as thing progress it all comes together in ways you just marvel at. As humorous as they make this there is an underlying darkness too and it doesn’t seem contrived or forced it’s more of a result of the setting they are in which to me makes the perfect sense. The whole composition of the book from start to finish, top to bottom is easier than a spring day with a light breeze.

That everything in this book was as effective as it is is sublime. The way the page layouts are utilised and how we see the angles and perspective is done exceptionally well. The creativity and imagination used to bring every character to life is really something you need see. It really does help you make a connection to Cherry that is off the wall deceivingly all-ages is something that brings this up to a level all it’s own.

I would highly recommend you contact your shoppe and order this for you and for them too because this one the one you don’t want to miss. Small indie/self-published companies are the hottest ticket in town right now. There is a fire and drive not to mention passion about what they are what they put into this and what we see. Usually B-movie horror/comedy is extremely campy but not here and that can do this this way without it feel like that is admirable.

MAY181986 is the order code so please use it!

Delta 13 #1
IDW Publishing 2018

Who knows what mysteries lie deep in the asteroid belt? When a mysterious, huge, and previously undiscovered asteroid looms over their ship, a small crew of blue-collar workers discovers a terrifying threat unlike anything they've ever seen. Now, the crew must escape the asteroid, but even if they do, will they be able to escape each other and anything they bring back with them?

I have to say right off the bat that there are few collaborations that are as serendipitous as this one here and you have to include Tom in that, don’t underestimate the power of how words are presented. In my eye this has a very almost classic style to it that mixes the ethereal and the exotic nature of space in a Sci-Fi/Horror story. Yes it feels familiar because we all have seen this scenario and by that I mean space exploration gone wrong but these guys know how to leave it at feeling and turn it into something new, fresh and exciting.

There is a lot to like here and it feels like we’re being thrown into this well established reality where hitting the asteroid belt dropping of spider like drones to wonder and record everything about it can is kind of spectacular. By not bothering to give us background information on the year the whole state of our planet and just focusing on what’s happening here is sensational to me. It feels natural not contrived or forced upon me it just is and that’s that so let’s focus on the crew and what appears to be their job. Notice I said job not mission because from the dialogue here and the description above this is work nowadays. Spendings week roaming space and placing these drone things it’s cool, interesting, boring and stressful and all of that is in these pages.

Steve is a master storyteller in my humble opinion and the way he’s able to structure this story and keep it moving forward and giving us just enough characterisation to intrigue but not make decisive is fantastic. I like the characters of this crew they seem to work well together, not quite family but comfortable with each other. No one stands out as the villain or bad guy type here and I find that aspect fascinating right now. So the room for development here is limitless and it feels like that when or if someone dies here we’re gonna feel the impact of that.

Nat does some amazing work here as well. His style exudes feeling and atmosphere at every turn. The lighting from the monitors and the almost eerie glow they give off wow that’s creepy and incredible at the same time. The faces, facial expression and the subtle way he works detail into this has this sublime affect that you barely notice because it’s not overt. The way page layouts are utilised and how we see the angles and perspective here is so hauntingly beautiful and his eye for storytelling has never been stronger. While I am a big advocate for utilising backgrounds this style and how we see it I wouldn’t change a damn thing about it.

I am impressed too with Tom’s lettering and I believe this is the first time I am talking about a letter in my review. From the way he is able to have it come across on the page brings that whole dichotomy of hard and soft, usually talked about in fashion, so it doesn’t feel like it was placed there it feels like it belongs. Also I like the varying uses in how we here voices so kudos.

This is now, it’s fresh, current, interesting and not only introduces this series but has created the kind of tension and anxiety that makes the reader lick their lips in anticipation.

Athena Voltaire and the Sorcerer Pope #4

Athena Voltaire and the Sorcerer Pope #4
Action Lab Entertainment 2018

The first story arc concludes as Athena and the team face off with the Nazis in a hidden temple. What mysteries are contained within the bronze head? Will Athena live long enough to find out?

You know I was thinking about this after I had read it to really absorb it and let what read soak in. I still stand by the Indiana Jones and Laura Croft baby statement but this issue got me thinking of other stories and franchises that I enjoyed immensely as well. Tales of the Gold Monkey and Tia Carrere Relic Hunter those are shows that are more than guilty pleasures they shaped my life in some way, shape or form. They certainly added to my love of history and the treasure real or imagined within them ripe for the finding. Athena lives up to that era with all the searching for treasure, fighting Nazi’s as they look for occult and superstitious object to helm them win the war. That is why it’s exciting it is all fiction based off reality.

Steve is obviously passionate about this series and he should be it’s one of the most all around best series with a female lead, heck any gender lead for that matter out right now. He has a vision for this and the way the book is structured is spectacularly well done as we get all this information, the cliffhanger style ending which isn’t one and a great look see at how Athena thinks. This is nicely put together and the flow from one discovery to the next until the story reaches something akin to a natural stopping point. It has the right amount of real world places, imaginary artefacts and those nifty hidden rooms and places that always pique our curiosity.

Another aspect of this that I really enjoyed here was the whole way sex is dealt with. Athena is modern woman and as such has no problems using all aspects of her to get the most out of life. She really is somewhat more like a man in this regard and while it’s very much today a more accepted notion of behaviour back then it wasn’t. So the dynamic here is sensational to see and that Dez is placed in the more subservient role between them well it’s pretty amazing. Oh and the fact that he actually cares about her well that wasn’t what I was expecting but it’s still nice to see.

Ismael and Emily do some really nice work on the interiors here. From the utilisation of page layouts and how we see the angles and perspectives in the panels we see a splendid eye for storytelling. The attention to detail varies on the scene so the varying weight of the linework comes into play beautifully. There really is some very nice intricate detail I the walls and floors here and the creativity and imagination on display here.

Any time you bring this kind of overall creativity and imagination to an audience they cannot help but to respond to it. While so many are concentrated on the future people forget the past on which the future is actually based. Those who ignore the past are destined to repeat it well let’s hope not but still to see all the awe and wonder of what they are going through is something that gives hope that fighting for the future is worthwhile. This is what the past was all about living in the now and dreaming of a brighter tomorrow.

With the city of Rome as her new base of operations, Aya has already enlisted the help of a number of like-minded individuals to her cause, including the senators Brutus and Cassius. But following the assassination of the power-hungry dictator Julius Caesar, Aya and her new allies have plunged Rome into even further turmoil. Now a prisoner of Caesar's ally Mark Antony, Aya prepares for what may possibly be her final judgement…

The realisation came to me that video games are just techno geeks way of improving Dungeons & Dragons. In each case you have to take your idea, build your world, classes, character types, skill sets and so on and so forth. I can’t believe I didn’t see the correlation sooner but hey I don’t really play video games and the first ones I did back in the 80’s were never this complex as what we see now. Realising all this now kind of makes me want to play if I am to be honest. There is a major difference however and that’s game developers create this but at the same time they don’t flesh it out. The backstory as it were, the creation idea none of that is public knowledge. That’s where the utilisation of story arcs like this one come into play.

Here we get to see someone take that idea of how it all began and bring it to life. Every story has a beginning or there wouldn’t be on at all. So that Ann was available to work with Anthony and Anne to really give this the authenticity to the game franchise and the version of the game which is going to be released. This is how you merge franchises so that both can stand alone with incredible ease and yet also compliment each other and get you excited for the future. Plus not only is the location and era in which this is set so fascinating to so many people but it also very much as the feel of today’s action adventure films.

The way that this is structured is utterly brilliant. The ebb & flow here is superb and there is a moment when we see the arena used in ways that were done back that but not what is typically shown in today’s world. It is a fantastic touch and uses the arena and the area to it’s utmost making it feel as real as it possible. The authenticity brings something to the fantasy of the story that cannot be replaced or counted out. It really has the whole impact needed to really delve into the roots.

I do very much like the interior artwork here. The linework is manipulated beautifully between soft and hard to really bring the eye into focus while also still having this amazing effect on the attention to detail. The utilisation of page layouts is so gosh darn good and the way we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows off a bloody marvellous eye for storytelling. Also the fashions and the realistic nature of the life forms we see here compliment everything. Then of course the way backgrounds are utilised fit the moments and expand them so well.

While this is at it’s core an origin story about the organisations and of course Aya’s ideals and how she comes to the see world but it’s also a story about actions and consequences. The idea of spur of the moment or not thinking long term about something is detrimental and no amount of acrobatic or killing ability can fix. It is ground breaking, exciting and thrilling adventure story who’s ramifications are only just beginning.

There is something about this book that catches the reader off-guard. Max has an incredible mind and gets to showcase his talent, skill and ability here beautifully. With his bands and music we see one side of him but this is that opportunity to express himself in other ways as well and I personally love reading his stuff. From Moon Knight to this one he is currently writing two of my favourite books on the market. The range and versatility in the work is sensational and this all-ages offering well it has that special place because not only of the subject matter but where the two stars are in their life. The onset of Puberty, the hormones and beginning of true individuality are beginning to emerge and if you kids you’ll understand this stage, if you don’t then you should remember yourself at this age and either way it’s fun and relatable to.

We left off with Lucy telling Welsey that they had the same dream. We saw that for ourselves which was fun and rather unexpected. I like that we pick where things left off the sense of real time continuity is nice to see. The way Max is structuring this story is superb and there is natural ebb & flow to the book so we feel more like guests than passengers in the story. I remember being that awkward age, being too smart for my own good and unable to ask for help, whether that was pride or stubbornness I don’t know but my growing made me connect with Lucy here and that scene with her mother. Oh my goodness this is just as awkward as I would think a sex talk would be.

Now if these two could just get along, understand each other and compromise things would go a whole lot more smoothly but then without this conflict half the story would disappear. Still the way it is now with this whole I’m the parent your the child routine allows for anger and resentment to fly from both of them and that’s when secrets get spilled. Heat of the moment stuff that is how a lot of information gets spilled and it doesn’t matter who you are we’ve all experienced it. On the flip side with Welsey knowing the truth about their dreams and the connection they have his desire to hurry up and do it again well I like that kind of spunk.

Michael has done some fabulous work and well The Woods alone phew and this series has that charm needed in both the type of story, a sci-fi coming of age, we see along with that whole all-ages aspect. It’s delightful, warm and comforting while still managing some nice attention to detail and be expressive. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows a strong solid eye for storytelling. Also that Lucy doesn’t see that she is the daughter here is amazing to me--”dream world version” it’s some incredibly fun and creative work. The different genres and game settings we get to see played with here is superbly done and really makes me want to see more.

I am thoroughly enjoying the story, the characterisation and how we see the kids trying to come into their own through the actions of the parents. Who doesn’t entertain the idea of getting lost in a dream where that world isn’t imaginary but real and every night you go some place new and different and get to be someone new and different each time. It sounds like a dream come true really although if it seems too good to be true it usually is. So where’s the downside here? We will see because mum is on her case and this is new territory so I eagerly await next month when this continues.

I don’t know what it is exactly but the work this creative team is doing here is beyond what I have come to expect from them. That is a mightily tall order too because seriously the creativity and imagination these folks possess really is astounding. To see the body of work these people have is award worthy in and of itself and to see and experience something this utterly amazing, mesmerising and quite honestly still more of a mystery than the day it started. Somehow I don’t have a single clue as to what’s happening here and I cannot get enough of it.

Run just as fast as I can To the middle of nowhere To the middle of my frustrated fears And I swear you're just like a pill instead of making me better your making me ill. it’s the perfect theme song for this issue’s soundtrack too. I always create a soundtrack in my head and I gotta say I want more and yet I couldn’t handle more fits the whole idea of the song and the story. With Father Fred doing what he’s doing in Gideon Falls and what is simultaneously Norton and Dr. Xu in New York City it feels like a treasure hunt is on and yet we don’t have a clue what to look for.

It should sound maddening to not know or have a clear grasp of what’s going on and yet the writing is impeccable and the interiors are stunning in the overall effect so that what matters most is the enjoyment in seeing the characters in the roles they play and to have them continually fleshed out. Last issue for example Dr. Xu went from thinking Norton has this hysterical mass delusional thing happening until that moment she sees the Black Barn. So we get to see things happening and the story is moving forward and it’s gripping reading I just don’t know what it means.

The way this book is structured continues to impress me and regardless of which place it’s in both seem to almost mirror each other as Norton and Father Fred continue to be surprised by the actions of those around them. The characterisation here is also interesting and in regards to the supporting characters like the Sheriff or Dr. Xu the more we see them the more we see them acting in parts they don’t believe in and to see how that will end up playing out as changes come will be fascinating to witness.

Andrea’s eye for storytelling is sublime. The way he’s able to manipulate this linework so that it looks either like it’s set in the rain of part of Noir cinematic feature either way it’s got some of the most dramatic and fitting work to be seen right now. The utilisation of the page layouts is gorgeous and the way we see the angles and perspective in the panels showcases one of the most talented eyes for storytelling. Even though I want to see a lot of backgrounds in use the drama Andrea and Dave able to create more than makes up for lack of them.

Back in the day the church scene would be like something you see out of Dynasty and waiting for an explosion to take place. The tension it builds in you as a reader is substantial and powerful. The introduction of other people and players who aren’t what they appear to be keeps creating a new atmosphere and mystique around the story that builds like some kind massive storm. At this moment Godsmacks Voodoo is playing in my head as this ominous yet soothing feeling that something huge is building up that is going to need release soon.

One of the most intoxicating books on stands today.

Goosebumps in Download and Die! #3

       STORY SO FAR
The more Mitra uses the mysterious phone she got in the mail, the more strange things keep happening. People around her are getting hurt, she might be seeing ghosts, and after she thinks she can hear her friends’ secret thoughts, her rage pushes Kyra and…

A part of me is sad that I didn’t grow up in the age of Goosebumps. It would’ve been awesome and probably would’ve been the instigator for my love of horror. As it is I am quite happy with the introduction I got, my cousins Larry and Mark used to leave old horror films on while we stayed there and scared me every chance they got! Then there’s also Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators I grew up reading and I wouldn’t give that up for the world it helped shape future me.

The way that Jen structures this is extremely well done and while the culmination of the story happens here and a lot of it goes on it never feels rushed or things put in for the sake of putting it in. for a three issue arc I cannot be thankful enough for the pacing and the way everything comes to a head. All the while at it’s core the message about friendship continues like a Lighthouse Beacon parting the fog and uniting them again. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that Jen can entertain with the story send a message along with it and make this delightfully all-ages. Sometimes I think adults need the lessons more than kids do but that’s another topic entirely.

So Jen has impressed at every step of the journey she’s taking and the dialogue that she is able to bring to this is spectacular stuff. There is as much understanding in the words as there are in the unspoken ones. It doesn’t matter if your a boy or a girl, gay or straight, young or old it doesn’t matter because you can find aspects within this story to identify with. An experience that’s similar, we’re talking school and friendships not haunted phones, or seen up close it all has this amazing air of authenticity to it that pulls you.

Michelle and Triona’s work on the interiors here is fabulous! It is all-ages to a “T” which creates this kind of massive broad spectrum appeal. The way page layouts are utilised to show off the use of angles and perspective in the panels showcases aq marvellous eye for storytelling. The colouring is wonderful ad the shading or gradation of colour that we see is so well handled. Each of the girls has a look that matches her personality and that isn’t as easy to do as people think. Backgrounds here are used judiciously and well but I'd like to see more of them.

This issue not only brought them all together to bring down the “big baddies” but it brought Weather and Merdad into the tightly knit group for the finale. While everything worked out the way it was supposed to for the friends and the wires uncrossed and the tables turned (they never knew they had a lesson to learn) and feeling good it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s over. The ending was something and to be honest I do hope there at least plans to follow up and not leave us hanging. Regardless this is fun, interesting and keeps expanding and evolving the Goosebumps world of storytelling.

Weapon H is still on the lam, but that won't stop Roxxon from finding our Hulkverine. So who do you send in to root him out? Get ready for Weapon H vs.…the Brood!!!

I have been trying so hard not to like this book. I am not kidding, the character however is interesting and his story while not unique by any stretch of the imagination in the Marvel universe is kind of the first of his kind. He shouldn’t have been because merging the Hulk and the Wolverine in one person feels like a cheap way to lessen the impact of both characters. Let’s face it as it is Wolverine keeps having children and alternate timeline versions running around so that adamantium claws can or of a hulk, and whatever those silly shoulder cones are, it doesn’t feel right to me.

So the fact that Greg is doing what he’s doing here and that I am so into it is a huge thing for me. Clay is a great and interesting man with a backstory that we are slowly getting to know better. The whole arc that happened in Weapon X and Amadeus’ Hulk explained a chunk of what’s needed to know but there is still plenty to explore still. The way the book is structured is exceptionally well done and Greg manages to weave past, present and future into the storyline that is easy to follow and gives a great sense of who the characters are and more importantly how we feel about them.

Yes characterisation is an essential part of the book as if the character isn’t likeable no amount of power or capability they possess is going to make the book successful. After basically being raped in more ways than a person can count Clay could’ve just been a mindless beast who is easily controlled but because he has an inner strength to him, which I think we can sense as much as see here, that’s not the case but that isn’t going to stop him from wanting to be alone while he figures it all out. His journey is one of self-discovery that some folks find themselves taking when life throws at them things that are beyond the ability to comprehend right away.

I am a huge fan of the interior artwork and for me it’s almost as important if not more so then the words themselves. I am wholeheartedly one who will look at the interiors before deciding if I want to read the story so the fact that Cory is adept at manipulating the linework through varying of weights to achieve this level of detail is stunning. Huge supporter of those who use backgrounds and use them well like we see here that have that same attention to detail and serve to enhance the moment. The imagination and creativity we see in these “Brood” is interesting and one look at them says genetic engineering and that our guy from Roxxon I don’t see him dealing with something he cannot control.

I like how many different angles are at play here. While Clay remembers Sophia at this time he’s afraid to see here and probably with good reason and she’s out there looking for him. Roxxon is trying track him as best they can and not for altruistic reasons either. Of course Clay’s own journey and mix in some old friends and relatives to the mix and suddenly this has new scope to it that really expands the universe he’s a part of. Not to mention that the last page reveal of next issues guest star sent shivers down my spine.

Regardless of what and how he got his powers there is still an excitement surrounding the book and it gives me hope that there are Marvel books out there where it’s all about quality.
