PORTLAND, Ore. 07/20/2019 — Image Comics is pleased to congratulate all the winners of last night’s Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards and thank readers, retailers, librarians, media, and members of the industry for the ongoing support of creator-owned comics.
Jen Bartel (Blackbird) took home the Eisner Award for Best Cover Artist, Matt Wilson (Black Cloud, Paper Girls, The Wicked + The Divine) for Best Coloring, and Dustin Nguyen (Descender, Ascender) for Best Painter/Multimedia Artist.
Jeff Lemire took to the stage to accept the Eisner Award for Best New Series for Gideon Falls co-created with artist Andrea Sorrentino.
Ed Brubaker closed out the night by accepting the Eisner Award for Best Graphic Album—New for his co-creation with Sean Phillips and Jacob Phillips, My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies.
The Will Eisner Comic Industry awards are voted on by comics industry members and the awards ceremony is held in conjunction with San Diego Comic-Con International every year.
