Discover the Terrifying Dangers Lurking in the Infamous Eeriasallhel Forest in April 2021

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 26, 2021) –  BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at ORCS! #3, the next issue in the delightfully riveting original six-issue comic book series, by cartoonist Christine Larsen (Adventure Time, By Night), about a band of misfit Orcs who set off into the great, wide Known World in search of glory and gold, but find that the real treasures were the friends they made along the way.

Bog, Pez, Zep, Utzu and Gurh are off on their own, out in the Known World, and fending for themselves for the first time, which is GREAT! After all, what numbskull would mess with a pack of Orcs?! Well, hunger might. Or enchanted mushrooms. And, of course, there are folks out in the Eerieasallhel forest who are even bigger, stronger, and more bloodthirsty than Orcs are… like Trolls? Luckily, Orcs aren’t exactly known for fighting fair!

ORCS! is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ award-winning KaBOOM! imprint, home to comics for middle grade and younger readers including original series Just Beyond by R.L. Stine and Kelly & Nichole Matthews, Hex Vet by Sam Davies, Forever Home by Jenna Ayoub, Jo & Rus by Audra Winslow, Drew and Jot by Art Baltazar, Hotel Dare by Terry Blas and Claudia Aguirre, RuinWorld by Derek Laufman, and Pandora’s Legacy by Bones Leopard and Kelly & Nichole Matthews.

Print copies of ORCS! #3 featuring main cover art by series artist Christine Larsen, as well as variant cover art by Sweeney Boo (Eat, And Love Yourself) and Jonboy Meyers (Spawn), will be available for sale on April 21, 2021 exclusively at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Madefire.

“Show up for the ghosts, stay for the queer romance.”—AIPT

“It would appear BOOM! has another hit on its hands.”—ComicBook.com

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 26, 2021) –  BOOM! Studios today announced that SPECTER INSPECTORS #1, the first issue of the original five-issue series from comics creators Bowen McCurdy (The Long Way Home), rising star Kaitlyn Musto, and letterer Jim Campbell about a group of social media-savvy ghost hunters who seek out supernatural hot spots has sold out at the distributor level!

In response to the overwhelming support from retailers and fans, BOOM! Studios has announced SPECTER INSPECTORS #1 SECOND PRINTING, featuring brand new cover art by Kaitlyn Musto, available in stores April 21, 2021.

True believer Noa, her cynical little sibling Gus, credulous camera man Ko, and Noa’s skeptical best friend (and secret crush) Astrid head to one of the most haunted towns in America to prove that ghosts exist, for all the social media likes! The investigations of hauntings uncover something more devilish than just a couple of ghosts, something that will put Noa and Astrid’s relationship to the test… and reveal the centuries-old sinister secrets of the town itself.

“The response to SPECTER INSPECTORS #1 from retailers and fans alike has been nothing short of amazing, thanks to the incredible story and world that Bowen and Kaitlyn have created,” said Filip Sablik, President, Publishing & Sales, BOOM! Studios. “We are so excited for even more fans to join the town’s ghost hunters’ adventures to answer that ultimate question. . . are ghosts even real?!”

Nightwing, with Batgirl by his side, returned to Blüdhaven this month in Nightwing #78 with all the style and grace expected of DC’s high-flying hero! The demand for the debut of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s new run has pushed Nightwing #78 to a second printing slated to arrive in shops on April 27, hot on the heels of Nightwing #79 on April 20!

And as readers saw in Nightwing #78, there’s a new furry friend in town! Nightwing’s heroic three-legged puppy, currently nicknamed “Bitewing” by fans but who remains nameless in the comic book, needs a civilian name! Fans are encouraged to vote online for their favorite name—Haley, Shadow, Blue or Hope—between now and March 30 by way of a DC UNIVERSE INFINITE poll. The option with the most votes will become her new namesake!

And coming up in Nightwing #79, in addition to the first appearance of new character Heartless, Dick Grayson has inherited Alfred’s fortune, a puppy, and a whole lot of questions. Who is Mayor Zucco, and what is her relation to the man who murdered Dick’s parents? What sinister plans does Blockbuster have for Blüdhaven? What kind of dog food is best for a three-legged puppy? To answer these questions, Dick’s going to need a little help from his friends—past and present. Take a look at the first few pages of Nightwing #79, due to hit shelves on April 20.

VAULT COMICS ANNOUNCE BARBARIC BY MICHAEL MORECI, NATHAN GOODEN, ADDISON DUKE, & JIM CAMPBELL

Picture
A bloodthirsty barbarian and his drunk axe roam an untamed, mythic realm battling supernatural cultists, hungry giants, creatures of the night, and more in their quest to somehow, amidst all this chaos, do some good.

Missoula, MT (3/25/2021): Vault Comics is thrilled to announce BARBARIC, a wild, blood-thirsty fantasy series from writer Michael Moreci, (The Plot, Wasted Space The Lost Carnival), artist Nathan Gooden (Brandon Sanderson’s Dark One, Vampire: The Masquerade), colorist Addison Duke (Curse Words, Vampire: The Masquerade), letterer Jim Campbell (The Plot, Giant Days), and designer Tim Daniel. BARBARIC follows Owen the Barbarian who has been cursed to do good with what remains of his life. His bloodthirsty weapon, Axe, has become his moral compass with a drinking problem. Together they wander the realm, foredoomed to help any who seek assistance. But there is one thing Owen hates more than a life with rules: Witches. Welcome to the skull-cracking, blood-splattering, mayhem-loving comic brave enough to ask: How can a man sworn to do good do so much violence? Hah! F***ing with you. It’s just…BARBARIC.

AXE, co-star of BARBARIC (Owen’s sentient, blood-drunk axe) slurred his way through a statement about his upcoming role in the book. "Look, maybe I am a bloodthirsty axe with a drinking problem, but I still know an epic, kick-ass story when I see one. Granted, I happen to be the star of this particular tale (never mind that barbarian oaf), but that doesn't change the fact that BARBARIC has got it all: action, a sweet f***ing axe, mystery, magic, an awesome AXE, and other non-axe related stuff. So come for the axe and stay for the axe. You don't want to get me mad, do you?"

"BARBARIC, to me, is a series that wraps both its arms around the comics medium--it's big, from the get-go, in ways only comics can be,” said Moreci about BARBARIC. “I want this to be a huge story that continues on the way Hellboy does, and I want it to feel like that kind of epic. It's my ode to pulp adventures, and immersive world-building, and larger-than-life characters. I feel so energized writing it, and I hope, between my scripts and Nate's insanely amazing art, that energy comes off of every page."

“2020 was a very difficult year for me and my family; as it was for everyone around the world,” added Gooden. “BARBARIC was my escape. I got to work with one of my genuine friends in the industry and make a book that is just , dare I say, fun. There is humor, there is action, there is tons of adventure, but most importantly,  there is heart. Come enjoy the ride as we continue to grow these characters across a fantastic landscape.”

BARBARIC #1 will hit store shelves in June 2021, and will debut with a special Vault Vintage cover from Nathan Gooden and Tim Daniel that pays homage to Barry Windsor-Smith’s epic cover to Conan The Barbarian #1 (1970).

The Final Girls, a Darkly Comedic Superhero Drama Arrives from comiXology Originals

Survive the exposure. Send the invoice.

A 5-issue series from artist Sally Cantirino and colorist Gab Contreras

Introducing Writer Cara Ellison

Featuring covers by Annie Wu, Audrey Mok, Tula Lotay & Olivia Stephens

All 5-issues drop March 30, 2021

March 25, 2021 — New York, NY — The world’s most popular superheroes have come and gone. The year is 2030 and most of the glamorous American superheroes of the last era have been wiped out, leaving only a handful to deal with the world’s crises. Welcome to The Final Girls.

The Final Girls is written by Cara Ellison, making her creator-owned comic book writing debut, with art by Sally Cantirino, colors by Gab Contreras, and lettering by Joamette Gil. The five-issue series is available beginning March 30, 2021, from comiXology Originals. The series is edited by Katie West and features covers by Cantirino and a selection of star-studded guest cover artists, including Annie Wu, Audrey Mok, Tula Lotay and Olivia Stephens.

“Inside every superhuman, there’s still a human,” said Ellison. “And the human needs to eat, pay the bills, have relationships, and send invoices. But what happens when superhumans realise that all the fragile systems of society and economy and politics are going to kill them, just like everyone else? What use is smashing someone through a window when the system that created them still exists?”

Part dark comedic superhero drama, part dystopian political thriller, The Final Girls is set six years after the hero collective the Scottish tabloids named “The Final Girls” --Kogarashi, Bavanshee, Selkie, and Ash--left civil service and disappeared into the less fraught alleyways of Scotland. When Scathach, the world's most powerful working hero, asks her retired peers for help, they secretly agree to deal out punishment on another hero in the public eye. When the weapon of publicity is wielded, it threatens to kick up all of their personal traumas, past and present. What does justice look like when violence isn't enough?

The Final Girls is illustrated by Sally Cantirino, the acclaimed artist of I Walk With Monsters from Vault, Last Song from Black Mask Studios, and Dead Beats from A Wave Blue World.

“Sally Cantirino brings punk aesthetics and a scratchy horror vibe to the mood of The Final Girls,” says Ellison. “Sally has a really good sense of how powerful women posture and how angry they can be.”

“The Final Girls is about a group of ex-work-for-hire superheroes navigating through the fall-out and harm caused by their superhero colleagues,” said Cantirino. “It’s a comic about what abuse of power, reparative justice, and real change might look like.”
Part of the comiXology Originals line of exclusive content, The Final Girls will be available upon release, at no additional cost, for members of Amazon Prime, Kindle Unlimited, and comiXology Unlimited, and for purchase on Kindle and comiXology. Prime Reading offers all Amazon Prime members a rotating selection of thousands of top Kindle books, magazines, short works, comic books, children’s books, and more. JIMMY EAT WORLD ANNOUNCES 555; AN ALL-NEW COMIC BOOK COLLABORATION WITH Z2 COMICS

After a Storied 25+ Year Career, The Band Announces Its First Ever Foray Into Sequential Storytelling with ‘555’ On Sale Now Exclusively Through Z2’s Website!
NEW YORK, NY—Z2 Comics spring fever continues with news that Jimmy Eat World has joined their roster of beloved bands expanding their mythos into comics and graphic novels with the announcement of Jimmy Eat World: 555, a brand-new oversized issue, available to order now!

Random Shock Studios, the team behind other successful Z2 releases teams up with Jimmy Eat World’s Jim Adkins for an original slab of science fiction inspired by the music of the platinum selling artists behind such massive hits as “The Middle,” and “Pain.”

Jim Adkins says “There was a fair bit of world-building around the characters for the ‘555’ music video and it felt too interesting to end the story there… it screamed for a comic adaption. I gave Alex Paknadel the basics of the character backstories and he was able to conceptualize an amazing world that Koren Shadmi perfectly illustrated.”

Klaarg took the job at the edge of known space to be as far away from the Asano Pact – from people – as possible. As the overseer of a factory that produces Kudj Kram, the cloned slave labor that keeps the corrupt system he represents running, his days are exactly as he wants them: empty and without incident. However, when his factory is targeted for closure, Klaarg discovers that he is as expendable to his superiors as the creatures in his charge.

Adkins continues “The song ‘555’ is about shifting your thinking from what you can gain to how you can contribute and the surprising rewards that brings. Based on that concept, our main character KLAARG works for an evil galactic empire as an overseer of a cloned work force and ends up battling with his own values as his purpose in the universe becomes threatened.”

“We started work on this project with Jim awhile back, and I am thrilled to see it released” says Josh Frankel, publisher of Z2 Comics. “Jimmy Eat World were one of the first bands we spoke with who had an immediate understanding of the potential of comic book storytelling to further the experience for music fans beyond an album or tour. I think that what we came up with together will be uniquely satisfying to fans of comics and music lovers alike.”

Jimmy Eat World: 555 is released today exclusively on Z2’s webstore in three versions, a 60 page oversized softcover comic, a hardcover, and only 100 hand signed hardcovers.
