Well folks it’s all been leading up to this. Andy has really managed to create this world of subterfuge and killers so expertly that we just can’t help but get lost in it. It’s all come down to brother vs brother and the crews they run. While Weaver is his own man and really isn’t part of any crew he’s been working with the “good guys” to take down Deacon for personal reasons this is the story that we’ve been waiting for.
I love the whole hey Mom guess what your a douche speech that we get this issue. I mean seriously she’s trying to reason with him and talk like a concerned parent after everything she’s put him through? Yeah I have to admit it’s great stuff and wow does Aaron really gives this look at Weaver that’s amazingly well done. His face and expressions are just in your face strong.
When Deacon arrives upon their little grouping things really get serious. Ah the man has no use for normals and with his abilities he’s able to make them shoot each easily enough. Finally rectifying the fact that Anne Howell was supposed to be dead. Though it’s great to see that Holly was struggling with her feelings about Deacon up until this moment when she realizes just what kind of man he is and then confirms it even forcefully. The dialogue and the writing here are just incredibly tense and emotion filled.
I kind of like that this has been leading up to the showdown between Weaver and Deacon. When a man becomes so overconfident in his abilities and believes he cannot be stopped is usually what leads to his downfall. Will that be the case with Deacon or will his ruthlessness be what really makes him king of the hill as it were.
So they’ve all been after this same object which turns out to be a girl. She’s a booster and Deacon wants to be tapped in. He’s already scary strong and the others can’t seem to shake off his control and it’s scary to think what he’d then be able to do with a booster. What happens after Deacon has Maggie kill herself and Weaver is taken out well you’ll have to see it to believe it but suffice it to say this is remarkably not the end of the story.
We see the past and how the girl ended up where she is and who was supposed to come back for her. More of who she is and a hint of what she’s capable of yeah we see why she’s so important to so many people. Could she give normals powers of their own? Could she be used to create an army of soldier with abilities by some unscrupulous agency, i’m looking at every single government here. The prospect is hugely scary and then there’s men like Deacon who want her power to boost his own but it’s terrifying to think what that kind of power can do to and for someone.
Season three looks like it’s going to be a whole new ballgame. I’m excited that this isn’t the end and like a british television series it’s short but packed with action, adventure and great characterization. This has all the interest of an action thriller mixed with enhanced abilities and the whole organized crime cartels as the opponent making it this fresh and exciting series. Then there’s Aaron’s interiors which are simply amazing. The man just has some insanely mad skills when it comes to what he can put on the page. I’m always impressed and excited to see his work and it always seems to be getting better and better.
