Few series get better and better with each issue this however is one of them. As each issue reveals more and more about Mikey’s life and the dark passenger he has riding within him things seem to get more complicated and intense. Last issue Mikey and Brennan broke into that shop so they could retrieve those knives when Brennan got shot by Becca. This issue starts off with another piece of Terrenos coming to Earth and transforming a group of hunters into something else.
With Brennan’s life at stake and Becca trying to help Mikey freaks out and we all see that dark passenger in his face for the first time. It’s also the first glimmer of hope we get that Mikey may not be fully under his sway as well. There’s still fight left in him and that’s encouraging to see. Now I have to wonder how far Becca will be involved in what’s to come. She’s seeing what Terrenos’ effect on her world is having and she’s seen Mikey’s passenger plus the responsibility for Brennan she adds something to the mix that his wife may not appreciate.
I love that Aaron’s got a new ally in the making here. Agent Brooks is being pushed out of the investigation and he believes in Mikey just as much as Aaron does so i’m wondering what will happen when he defies his superiors frees Aaron and joins up with mom and start going after the boys. I’m also kind of anxious to see what happens when Mikey’s wife and unborn child, which should be born any day now, adding to more of the family drama mix. It’s also interesting to see how a small change in attitude or the way the wind blows can dramatically alter allegiances.
So the Agent that pulled Brooks off this thinks he’s getting a handle on things after being grounded by Mikey’s wife, I hope she’s his wife. Now she’s one hell of a character creation here I mean she’s sassy, fun, interesting, smart and she’s pretty bad ass. Still now I’m thinking that while he saw a pregnant woman with giant wings and he was nonplussed about it that there’s so much more to him than meets the eye, he’s aware. Oh and the dialogue here was absolutely phenomenal! Seriously I laughed out loud at one moment in the helicopter.
Andrei and Adriano also make this series what it is with their work on the interiors. I mean hello the way those three hunters were transformed into new creations not to mention the effect on the local wildlife plus the brightness of the colours and the way the lighting works it’s all just so effin incredible.
We’re hitting a new chapter here where the individual players are starting to find themselves drawn together through circumstance and new and interesting threats are emerging in new and exciting ways. Joshua really is telling this multi-layered story that delves into family, honor and duty that comes across in subtle and surprising ways.
This should be your pick of the week.
