Last issue we met Adam Stairs and I was intrigued it was great introductory issue for this story and it definitely made me come back for number two. Well Nikki, Adam’s girlfriend got fed up with him, his lack of ambition and drive in this new world where jobs are scarce and good people even more rare so she threw him out. Meanwhile he’s been having dreams of life lived a long time ago.
This issue starts off with Adam visiting Nikki’s therapist and i’m sure he’s hoping this will reunite the pair but in all honesty he needs this for himself and needs a woman like her out of his life for good but that’s just me. When the topic of his dreams comes up Dr. Z is suddenly very interested in them, she’s the kind of character you see and think she doesn’t give a damn she’s going through the motions with a mask on, you can tell she doesn’t care much. She’s definitely shifty looking and there’s just something off you can tell I don’t like therapists much eh?
In Glastonbury England a chopper arrives to find the people dead or in various states of dying. The Doctor in charge has been trying for nearly thirty years to figure out how an artifact works here, she knows the words and has the artifact but she doesn’t posses the power. Vergil however does and he shows up long before help can arrive in the form of Fames and Nex. The Doctor gets her wish and he opens up the place with the artifact/sigil and she gets to finally see what she’s been trying for all this time.
I like that we get another at the President of the United States though to be honest she’s comes off as a joke to me. Plus painting the White House Red yeah that seems overly silly and would alienate her even more. Oh this “B” needs to go she’s a ranting child, impatient and impetuous without being able to look at the big picture just her immediate gratification yeah annoying as all get out and hopefully she’ll get her comeuppance.
With David back in therapy with Dr. z she’s really focused on his dreams and what he sees, experiences and feels. I knew something shady was up with her and she finally gets to let that mask down and we see her real personality come through. Not a very person and her assistant yeah she’s less so but also in on what she’s doing. However apparently in this world there are plenty of clones and test tube babies.
Oh we see how all the different things happen here to create the story and Gigio has found a great way to keep the story moving forward but at the same time keeping us guessing with how he’s going to do it. With so many factions in play and Adam clueless to it all plus with his natural luck, yeah bad luck that is, getting in the way well I can’t wait to see who gets to him first and how his one friend/co-worker (with a mysterious feather falling off him) and the girl from his dreams also a co-worker play into all this.
This is an original story with a great new perspective of things and it draws you into the story keeps your attention honestly surprises the heck out of you. Highly recommended!
